Saab 9-3x on video

I've just uploaded a new video of the Saab Performance Team having some fun in northern Sweden. The video also features footage of the new Saab 9-3x, which will make it's world debut at Geneva next week.

This video is available for viewing through the Saab widget as well, though if you haven't downloaded that yet (or don't want to) then you can watch the video here at Saabs United.

Some people using Internet Explorer have trouble watching video here. If that's you, then click here to watch it at Google Video or you can watch it on YouTube.

If you're OK with video, then you can watch it after the jump.

Here's the video!

Cool video. The resolution wasn't quite low enough for me though. I could still see what was going on.

Seriously though, that convertible on two wheels in the snow is nuts. That guy must have some serious balls to be able to do that and be sure he isn't going to end up eating snow.

Ar least he had the rear pop-up roll bars deployed. :-)
Wonder if they deployed automatically or if it was done beforehand.

I love the ultra-narrow snow tyres on the two red sedans. It gives the car rally cred.

Can I order those wheels from my dealer?

Mag-X,

If you follow the YouTube link and add &fmt=22 to the URL, you get a higher resolution version, provided your computer and connection can handle it:

The improvement is especially noticeable in full-screen mode.

Great! The roads look a lot like our roads here in North Dakota right now. We're having our own "Arctic Adventure" this winter. I wonder if my wife drives our 9-5 Aero like this after she drops me off at work in the morning?

Thanks for sharing this.

John.

So enjoyed that video, brings back all the memories again. Three years ago seems like yesterday.

interesting once again to see how much people focus on a limited downside (ie diesel only in FWD).

Why limited? because diesel versions are only an issue in Europe. In North America, where this car has the most potential, diesel is not an option. Which leaves it always with 4WD.

I can imagine right now for Saab it is not an option to get the XWD adapted to the TTiD engine, because of the limted extra sales potential.

The google video page that swade linked to, contains a link to a .mp4 file (see "Download video - iPod/PSP").

AFAICT the .mp4 file provides the best quality of all the three possible ways of watching this clip. The high-def youtube clip is of lesser quality I think.

I am not so sure. I know my uncle would love something like the 9-3x. His old 900 had much better ground clearance than his current Volvo. And my 9-3 is definitively lower than the old 900...

Anyone who wants to combat a hill with deep tracks in the snow will surely appreciate the 9-3x.

Heck, I'm a bit tempted myself.

the videos are awesome i must say! love the saab performance team! ,we need more videos like this:)

Ground clearance of a standard 96V4 is higher than that of a 9-3X i could imagine...

Look at the red saabs at the end. It looks like someone removed part of the skirt below the bumper? (look just below the license plate)

This is the normal rear bumper, its just black.

Hi Jelger, read the autocar article and you will see, how many concentrate on that.

Sorry Rune,
I've double checked it, it is the normal Aero bumper.

Ah, cheers. I am not familiar with the more expensive models. :)

Strange that in such difficult time they focus on ...euh on what exactly ?
( some new 9-5 spy shots please, cause those gets the momentum going..)

BTW: Will it void any warranties if I drive my SAAB the same way they drove that yellow convertible?

What sort of damage does that maneuver cause?
