Great find (again)!
:-(
note the tire size 22/17/55! not 45! Hmm!
Today the German Saab Dealers got the information that the Saab 9-5 Sedan goes into its last production week. So the last orders for the 9-5 Sedan can be placed until tomorrow!
HO V6!
Jimminy Crikets no wagon!
Hopefully a smarter system than the distracting 9-3 SID (open the gates for the SID lovers!!).
Seems confusing mix of old and new, but certainly not the Dame Edna with these new features.
Look at that spec list. There´s just about everything one could possibly need and want. Well done Saab!
A cranberry red 9-5 Aero AWD would sound quite suitable for me :)
Lane departure warning and ventilated seats sound good. =)
Will miss the B235 Sôdertâlje T7 engines.
Can only hope for a new developed 5 cyl.
Just don't like that Holden V6!!
but this i do like : Heads up display!:)
We've heard already about the 1.6turbo and I assume there would be a 2.0turbo as well.
The other thing to remember (must put it in the post itself) is that this is a North American list, probably US spec. Maybe it'll be 6-only there?
2) Less interested in the fripperies than the engineering & technical details> More please Saab.
Absolutely! Production must continue. Surely there must be a way that these 'original' Saab engines can be incorporated into the new Saabs?!
I fly around in a B234R Sôdertâlje Trionic 5 equipped engine and it is simply unburstable.
Funky Saab exterior and interior colours and materials ('Saab velour' and quality Connolly/Bridge of Weir Leather) should make a come back too!
Some of us want cars that can stand out visually from a compost heap. How about a "friction tester" yellow, a Viggen blue or even a traffic cone Orange?
The new buyer could of course change everything including the choice of GM engines.
The blue is 'Doom' blue, the red is dull, the greys are dulalrdsm and its all depressing nordic winter stuff.
I want a COSMIC BLUE one!
Or what about a brilliant pealry metallic crimson- peugeot do a nice one of those...even Volvo have a red thats 'venetian'...
even though it is not strictly necessary, it won't be considered a serious alternative if only FWD.
Just hope that 4 cilinder engine DI will
Find is way for US market as well with
manual transmition.
I don't see manual transmition option
for aero version. That would be shame and
will make me look (unfortunaly) for something
else than SAAB next year.
Please SAAB don't drop manual trans. for
Aero version and you will have happy return
customer.
as to the colors, like Lance Cole, I love my Cosmic Blue 9-3, but am willing to believe that Fjord Blue Metallic will be exquisite in reality versus online color chip.
What is this US obsession with dvd players in vehicles????
Hope they can keep the base price below 35,000USD, WITH XWD.
On a more serious note I like that idea of a Head Up Display but those colours are a bit dull. I think that is exactly the same colour pallete as the Insignia. Manual transmission please, autos are for people who dont know how to drive!!
And Karen: You US guys are so lucky... in Europe you get a Linear Griffin with the 185 hp engine for 35,000. But Euro, not USD. For the current equivalent of USD 35,000 you can buy a base model 9-3 with the 150 hp engine.
Thanks, Swade for the updates!
BTW, I'm TOO YOUNG, to be drooling, LOL!
"Futti-tutti" or
"Purple Lurple"...............
............we could use a lil' more humor, considering the state SAAB is in...........
About this .pdf, remember with the 9-3 MY2008 and the MY2006 9-5, it happened the same, we could know some info about this cars through the GM fleet pdf.
regards
I love the reference to Aston Martin in the rear.
So far I heard people discribe it as looking like both the Aston Martin and the new Jaguar XF. That REALLY makes me happy as both are great looking cars.
If the 9-5 maintains the current size i would still purchase but, it seems odd that the interior and exterior dimensions are exactly the same as the current model.
In fact, I really hope that the XF is the benchmark they've been aiming at, both inside and out. It could be a real contender, especially with this features/colors list.
Forgive my ignorance... but will that make as much power as the Insignia OPC?
They obviously try to compensate for Phil's article. ;-)
SAAB 9-5 pic
No Griffin inside, and dts sound !!
http://editorial.autos.msn.com/listarticle.aspx?cp-documentid=1038172
But that is besides the point. Aston Martin is in a different league altogether. Saab has to sell cars to most who will be able to afford it. You see, everyone who can afford a $60K car; doesn't necessarily plan on spending $60K on a car. Don't believe me? Guess again, I'm one of them......
Would fit !!
6-speed Sentronic automatic transmission with manual shift
Noooooooooooooooooo.........
Can be translated to
P039 -> prototype 39
A28NET -> V6 2.8L 260 bhp
Hiper H-Arm -> Hierstrut suspension
FWD -> Well FWD
Base.. -> don't know, the end of the word can't be seen
:)
I'm getting excited :D
One of the key reasons I got MY08 9-5 aero SC was availability of a stick shift. I wanted a station wagon that is safe, practical yet fun to drive.
If new 9-5 does not have a stick my next ride will have to be a hated bimmer
Great point, I hope you are right. I also hope that they will keep manual as an option on US bound vehicles. It is becoming more difficult to find a stick here. Just like I said, no stick equals no deal for me. I just can't stand driving an auto
Maybe it will be released in the 2011 model (I hope not).
Also, the video that shows the 9-5 driving has to be a stick. Observe when it stops and the breaks are released; the car does not move.

Why does anyone want to fiddle around with a manual stick !!
Do you think it is "sporty" to manually move the gear sprockets, and stamp on a manual operated clutch ?
OK I know ther's a slight power loss in the torque converter, but in case you don't make absolutely perfect gear changes every time, and in practice you don't, we will run even, or possible I'll win. Believe me, I play the game every day.
S- mode and floor it, off you go. When the many makes the first gearchange he looses torque, and often the shift is not perfect on top of torque, so he already lost the first car lenght !
The possibility of manually chosen shifting time in the automatic, even makes you able to use the "engine brake" and stay at high revs, (when you come up behind someone you want to overtake fast)and have instantly maximum turbo pressure.
In every day use the aut. is so relaxing to drive.
One arm free to operate the navi, cell phone etc. and left foot won't get crampy in go-stop traffic.
Sentronic = high tech.
Manual = stone age tech.
I'll NEVER buy a manu again, (and look forward to the six speed) and I compensated the converter loss with a BSR stg.3+ :)
BTW, BOTH hands are supposed to be on the wheel (the exception being using a manual). The Nav and the Cell Phone are tools, luxuries (in some cases emergencies); but nevertheless they are not a necessities. They can be a big distraction or a hazard from.....DRIVING. Hands free cells are only permitted (while driving) in some places in the US.
You are just ignorant and have no clue to what you are talking about. Talking about overtaking and engine breaking with auto, what a joke. Auto will still kick up in a higher gear after the engine reaches certain RPMs. Stick on the other hand will stay in a chosen gear. If I want to redline the engine, I can with a stick, not so with auto.
As far as driving in traffic, again you have no clue. I drove stick in the worst traffic in the world: Atlanta, Washington DC, Seoul Korea. It is enjoyable as long as you know what you are doing. Since stick equals quick reaction and better control with engine braking.
I won't even comment on your remarks about cell phones, etc. You should be driving and not yapping.
In manual shift mode you can redline, hold the revs, use the gears to control speed, to slow stop....
all the drag cars that race use auto boxes faster changes thru the gears
