At first glance it seems to be specs for the plain old 9-5 (even pictured in the document), but these are indeed the specs for the new 9-5! Looks good!

Great find (again)!

Those are the dimensions of the current 9-5.

:-(

True... Those indeed are the dimensions of the current 9-5. Features are however definitely from the new 9-5.

HO V6!
note the tire size 22/17/55! not 45! Hmm!

Seems a little like the infos come from the new and the old model.

Today the German Saab Dealers got the information that the Saab 9-5 Sedan goes into its last production week. So the last orders for the 9-5 Sedan can be placed until tomorrow!

Note the tire size 225/55!/17
HO V6!
Jimminy Crikets no wagon!

Head up display people! At last!
Hopefully a smarter system than the distracting 9-3 SID (open the gates for the SID lovers!!).

Seems confusing mix of old and new, but certainly not the Dame Edna with these new features.

YIIEEHAAA!!

Look at that spec list. There´s just about everything one could possibly need and want. Well done Saab!

A cranberry red 9-5 Aero AWD would sound quite suitable for me :)

Phew... I was REALLY surprised that they didn't stretch wheelbase and length and that the car featured a rather poor boot size for its size. But I also thought of the old car immediately.
Lane departure warning and ventilated seats sound good. =)

Page 22 regarding On-Star still mentions 9-4x as a 2009/2010 model - hangover from pre-bankcruptcy crisis presumably as not mentioned elsewhere?

Hmm... no 4 cyl.
Will miss the B235 Sôdertâlje T7 engines.

Can only hope for a new developed 5 cyl.
Just don't like that Holden V6!!

seems to be specs of OG9-5

but this i do like : Heads up display!:)

Hopefully, there will be a 4 cyl engine. Just don't really like 6 or 8 bangers. I'll rather have a 4 with performence like a 6.

There will be a 4 cylinder. I don't think this list is definitive and was possibly prepared some time ago.

We've heard already about the 1.6turbo and I assume there would be a 2.0turbo as well.

The other thing to remember (must put it in the post itself) is that this is a North American list, probably US spec. Maybe it'll be 6-only there?

1) There will be a wagon, won't there? When Swade?
2) Less interested in the fripperies than the engineering & technical details> More please Saab.

1) It was planned for MY 11. I hope they can keep the schedule.

one dumb question from me , will the 2.0 Turbo for NG9-5 fit in the 9-3 also?

"Will miss the B235 Sôdertâlje T7 engines."

Absolutely! Production must continue. Surely there must be a way that these 'original' Saab engines can be incorporated into the new Saabs?!

I fly around in a B234R Sôdertâlje Trionic 5 equipped engine and it is simply unburstable.

Funky Saab exterior and interior colours and materials ('Saab velour' and quality Connolly/Bridge of Weir Leather) should make a come back too!

Car sounds great. Thanks Swade

ok cool,thanks.

The colours are all variations of browns and greys, except for one of the two reds. Even the green looks brownish.

Some of us want cars that can stand out visually from a compost heap. How about a "friction tester" yellow, a Viggen blue or even a traffic cone Orange?

I love my rough, rugged, and efficient B235 Sodertalje T7 engine too. I bet the tooling is just going to be moved off to some corner for a while after production stops (has already stopped). How hard would it be for GM Powertrain Sweden to whip up a direct injection head and the 4.0 V8 turbo (and maybe an I-6) for manufacture in Sodertalje. Maybe they already have.

The new buyer could of course change everything including the choice of GM engines.

Oh no, Saab have fallen for the current vogue of selling cars in shades of grey and prozac.

The blue is 'Doom' blue, the red is dull, the greys are dulalrdsm and its all depressing nordic winter stuff.

I want a COSMIC BLUE one!

Or what about a brilliant pealry metallic crimson- peugeot do a nice one of those...even Volvo have a red thats 'venetian'...

This thing better have a manual available also. The Insignia OPC has one!

I'm going to assume that Phil Alex will be buying one (eventually) in that green, simply based upon the paint colour codes ;-)

surely there will be a XWD as well as FWD.
even though it is not strictly necessary, it won't be considered a serious alternative if only FWD.

Manual trans? XWD?

Note this is a Fleet & Commercial brochure too, so some options may be limited/targeted to that market.

Looks like this is US spec.
Just hope that 4 cilinder engine DI will
Find is way for US market as well with
manual transmition.
I don't see manual transmition option
for aero version. That would be shame and
will make me look (unfortunaly) for something
else than SAAB next year.
Please SAAB don't drop manual trans. for
Aero version and you will have happy return
customer.

All-wheel-drive and eLSD are in the options list at the end. XWD must be too confusing a name.

That V-6 turbocharged engine better be getting better mileage than 24mpg highway posted on 2009 Aeros.

as to the colors, like Lance Cole, I love my Cosmic Blue 9-3, but am willing to believe that Fjord Blue Metallic will be exquisite in reality versus online color chip.

What is this US obsession with dvd players in vehicles????

Hope they can keep the base price below 35,000USD, WITH XWD.

Where is the 3.5L 300+ hp to compete with the big boys. Saab needs a V-8 in the new 9-5.

What, no afterburners! Sindwinder missiles! Born from jets....bahhh!

On a more serious note I like that idea of a Head Up Display but those colours are a bit dull. I think that is exactly the same colour pallete as the Insignia. Manual transmission please, autos are for people who dont know how to drive!!

Saab needs no V8 in the new 9-5. Even though it would be serious competition for the Germans it would be also not at all appropriate to the current market and environmental conditions. 2 litre enginge makes more sense.
And Karen: You US guys are so lucky... in Europe you get a Linear Griffin with the 185 hp engine for 35,000. But Euro, not USD. For the current equivalent of USD 35,000 you can buy a base model 9-3 with the 150 hp engine.

I wouldn't put too much faith in the accuracy of these paint swaths.

I LIKE the Graphite Gray....I have no problem being the STANDOUT in the bunch. Besides, the color allows you to "Stretch" the time between washes and detailing. The weather here plays a factor.

Thanks, Swade for the updates!

BTW, I'm TOO YOUNG, to be drooling, LOL!

I hope and prays that no one says or suggests:

"Futti-tutti" or

"Purple Lurple"...............

............we could use a lil' more humor, considering the state SAAB is in...........

Meant to say, "Frutti-Tutti"..........

I can confirm you this is the last month you can order a 9-3ss with the V6 engine, and soon also it will be cancelled the production and deliveries of the 9-5 MY2007. This is something said to me yesterday the Saab Delaer Manager I am a customer in the Barcelona Autoshow. The 9-5 Wagon will continue deliveries until the next year. They received that info from an internal memo from Saab.

About this .pdf, remember with the 9-3 MY2008 and the MY2006 9-5, it happened the same, we could know some info about this cars through the GM fleet pdf.

regards

I think there's something wrong. The dimensions are OG 9-5 but the specs are not. All write-ups are saying how big the car is. I own a 9-5 and it is not as big as a A6 inside. So either this is showing the ignorance of the press about the OG 9-5 or the dimensions are incorrect.
I love the reference to Aston Martin in the rear.
So far I heard people discribe it as looking like both the Aston Martin and the new Jaguar XF. That REALLY makes me happy as both are great looking cars.
If the 9-5 maintains the current size i would still purchase but, it seems odd that the interior and exterior dimensions are exactly the same as the current model.

I also love hearing the XF comments, if I stumbled across $60 grand today, an XF supercharged is the first car I'd buy.

In fact, I really hope that the XF is the benchmark they've been aiming at, both inside and out. It could be a real contender, especially with this features/colors list.

What's the 2.8L HO V6 in the Aero model??
Forgive my ignorance... but will that make as much power as the Insignia OPC?

NEW photos of the 9-5 on carscoop.com! Rear end and interior without camo!
They obviously try to compensate for Phil's article. ;-)

Nice find, bk-areo! :)

Hold on.......help ME out, I'm lost...what does the XF have to do with the 9-5 specs?

Wow, looking good! :)

New picture of the 9-5 rear, without camouflage!!!

SAAB 9-5 pic

There you go, NOT A HATCH!

Oops, in my excitement, I didnt see it was already posted... my apologies

Test drivers rule No 1. Don't stop for Burger King!

Nice butt !!!!

No Griffin inside, and dts sound !!

Trunk-lid looks big though compromised by the curviness of the shutlines.

The New Jaguar XF is NOT the benchmark. It is unproven. The 9-5 has been around, it's the new and improved (beyond belief) version. The only choice (and the main Jag I refer to) is the XJF. The X-Type turned out to be a discontinued and disapointing model.

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/listarticle.aspx?cp-documentid=1038172

But that is besides the point. Aston Martin is in a different league altogether. Saab has to sell cars to most who will be able to afford it. You see, everyone who can afford a $60K car; doesn't necessarily plan on spending $60K on a car. Don't believe me? Guess again, I'm one of them......

Do I see shift paddles ??

Would fit !!

6-speed Sentronic automatic transmission with manual shift

"6-speed Sentronic automatic transmission with manual shift"

Noooooooooooooooooo.........

Under the big screen is some info about the car

P039 A28Net Hiper H-Arm FWD Base....

Can be translated to
P039 -> prototype 39
A28NET -> V6 2.8L 260 bhp
Hiper H-Arm -> Hierstrut suspension
FWD -> Well FWD

Base.. -> don't know, the end of the word can't be seen

is it safe to say now that we wont be getting that green plastic on the front of the dash like the concept cars?

Why do you know that stuff? :)

Still on the subject of the NG 9-5, look at what just happened to appear online: http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/05/2010-saab-9-5-first-undisguised-photos.html

:)

oops, it's posted up there... sorry, guys :)

And I emailed it to Steven haha.

I'm getting excited :D

Google (perhaps)

I hope this info is wrong - no mentioning of manual tranny. THAT IS PATHETIC and I hope is wrong. It will be a total deal breaker for me.
One of the key reasons I got MY08 9-5 aero SC was availability of a stick shift. I wanted a station wagon that is safe, practical yet fun to drive.
If new 9-5 does not have a stick my next ride will have to be a hated bimmer

Of course there will be a manual. They are just highlighting that the 9-5 will finally get the six-speed auto. No manual would kill the Euro market. Would hardly dent the US and Australian markets though ;P

Turbin,
Great point, I hope you are right. I also hope that they will keep manual as an option on US bound vehicles. It is becoming more difficult to find a stick here. Just like I said, no stick equals no deal for me. I just can't stand driving an auto

Can anyone answer my question? What kind of power is the 2.8L Turbocharged HO V6 making? I found out it's a Holden... which is awkward sounding to me but if it does the job...

I would not buy this if it did not come in stick. However, please note that it says 'new for 2010'
Maybe it will be released in the 2011 model (I hope not).
Also, the video that shows the 9-5 driving has to be a stick. Observe when it stops and the breaks are released; the car does not move.

I think every modern auto behaves like that. I think Audi has been sued in the states some 20 Years ago, because of that.

I don't get it.
Why does anyone want to fiddle around with a manual stick !!
Do you think it is "sporty" to manually move the gear sprockets, and stamp on a manual operated clutch ?

OK I know ther's a slight power loss in the torque converter, but in case you don't make absolutely perfect gear changes every time, and in practice you don't, we will run even, or possible I'll win. Believe me, I play the game every day.
S- mode and floor it, off you go. When the many makes the first gearchange he looses torque, and often the shift is not perfect on top of torque, so he already lost the first car lenght !

The possibility of manually chosen shifting time in the automatic, even makes you able to use the "engine brake" and stay at high revs, (when you come up behind someone you want to overtake fast)and have instantly maximum turbo pressure.

In every day use the aut. is so relaxing to drive.
One arm free to operate the navi, cell phone etc. and left foot won't get crampy in go-stop traffic.

Sentronic = high tech.
Manual = stone age tech.

I'll NEVER buy a manu again, (and look forward to the six speed) and I compensated the converter loss with a BSR stg.3+ :)

So what are you saying? Are you saying Porsche, VW/Audi, Saab, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Fiat, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Lotus, Volvo, Koenigsegg, Hyundai, etc. are STONE AGE TECH for producing MANUAL? C'mon, Aero. An AUTOBOX is YOUR preference and that's cool. Some cars are made to exist as an automatic. But for me, nah, NEVER. NO Comparison. You wear out your brakes quicker in an auto, there's more wear and tear and (eventually) your transmission can go sooner also. But to make a comparison like the one you made, says to me, you have NO IDEA of the POWER, PERFORMANCE and PURITY of driving a stick. HANDS DOWN.

BTW, BOTH hands are supposed to be on the wheel (the exception being using a manual). The Nav and the Cell Phone are tools, luxuries (in some cases emergencies); but nevertheless they are not a necessities. They can be a big distraction or a hazard from.....DRIVING. Hands free cells are only permitted (while driving) in some places in the US.

Man
You are just ignorant and have no clue to what you are talking about. Talking about overtaking and engine breaking with auto, what a joke. Auto will still kick up in a higher gear after the engine reaches certain RPMs. Stick on the other hand will stay in a chosen gear. If I want to redline the engine, I can with a stick, not so with auto.
As far as driving in traffic, again you have no clue. I drove stick in the worst traffic in the world: Atlanta, Washington DC, Seoul Korea. It is enjoyable as long as you know what you are doing. Since stick equals quick reaction and better control with engine braking.
I won't even comment on your remarks about cell phones, etc. You should be driving and not yapping.

how about jackson and neil CALM DOWN

HEY Anyone here still have the original PDF with 2010 9-5 page in it? Could someone upload it in the Internet somewhere? GM has long remove that 9-5 page with an empty page!

In manual shift mode you can redline, hold the revs, use the gears to control speed, to slow stop....

all the drag cars that race use auto boxes faster changes thru the gears
