Too bad the layout and proportions on those two are so different...

Well I now have new back ground for my computer. But They should have used a Black Koenigsegg. One with red trim.

Those photos have been made in Winter ?

Beautiful!!! The both of them!

I doubt they were taking pictures with a half assed point-and-shoot camera. There has to be higher resolution versions of these pictures out there.

I guess that those photos are from the AMS test drive of the Aero X which happened to be at the same place where they were test driving the K-egg. I've read about it somewhere...

Even though the K-egg is one of the most beautiful cars in the world, man that car looks ugly next to the Aero X!!!

Great shots! Let's hope this goes into production SOON!

As a 30 year owner of SAABs, first one a '78 99 Turbo, and current owner of two '90 900 SPGs, an '03 9-5 Aero Sedan, and an '08 9-5 SportCombi Aero, I am thankful to have SAAB out of the grubby mitts of GM, and back under Swedish (sort of) ownership.

Hopefully SAAB can regain its status as an engineering innovator, rather than the afterthought it was while under GM.

It was a dark day for me when GM took the first 50% of SAAB years ago, and an even worse day they got the other 50%. I just knew that SAAB, as we knew it for so many years, was doomed under their control. Fortunately, it looks like SAAB have "escaped" just in time. A real tragedy however, that it took a global financial melt-down for it to come about.

Like most others who post here, I am anxiously awaiting to see what new vehicles come from the "new" SAAB. I can only hope that they will be as exciting as they once were.

With absolutely NO DOUBT, i would take the one on the right...! :-)
Gosh! that Aero-X looks sooooo S-E-X-Y!!!!!!!

This location is the "runway" test track at the Koenigsegg Factory in Angelholm, former airbase.

A few years ago I talked to a Saab designer, when the aero-x was making its tour in asia, i was told about this event, where out of the blue, the crew at the koenigsegg factory rolled out their car to compare it to the Aero-x n snap some shots. This was totally unplanned, and the designers at saab was really surprised how small K-egg was compared to the Aero-x, especially the height. Photos from the same media event has also given the classic photos of the aero-x at the gasstation. Really great winter photos, and the very first photos of a new cool company.

OMG. I'm speechless. :-)

Very well said, saabdude!! *thumbsup*

Yeah, I reckon these are from 2006.

I've just looked them up from when I published some others that I think were taken at the same time. No K-Segg in there, but I'm sure it's the same shoot.

I like the Aero-X but it's never excited me from all angles. To me, the EV1 will always be a far more timeless design. If Koenigsegg go ahead and build the Aero-X, I hope it gets some serious tweaks and updates, but at the moment there are far more important cars to build.

BTW, it looks like Bo Andersson won't be returning to Saab, pity.

Markac +1 Is this the "boost" we spoke of a few weeks back I hope the auto press goes wild as we hoped. I'm more interested in the cars that will make Saab a success, not the limited demand models in the picture.

Show us is the new 9-5! That is the future.

it's true. the Aero X looks absolutely massive there

The photos were taken with a Nikon D70.

Tony, you should have given the date and time too: 24/03/2006 2:58:00 PM. EXIF data is a wonderful thing!

But if I read the artical right, we could still see him in Saabs future. I mean don't some of the Opals share frames with Saab from GM. He does still have friends at Saab. We may see some sharing of info .

+1 None, show us the 9-5 already.

But man, does this look hot! Two gorgeous cars - one company. :)

Swade, got any hi-res images? These would make for a great wallpaper.

I've never been a fan of the aero x but what a great picture.

I parked next to a Maserati today. Such a beauty. Halo cars like that can do a lot for Alfas and Fiats. They will also do a lot for 9-3s.

Ok. I`ve got a new wallpaper on my laptop. Third picture.

I just realized today that I can finally type out Koenigsegg quickly and spell it right! Woo! I am sooo happyyyyy. Can't wait for Koenigsegg to filter out the GM stuff and start Saab off on their own again (not that I'm not excited for the Saab Insig- I mean 9-5!).

Speechless and my blood just ran cold!!!

cheers from Venice

An interesting video interview with Jan Ake Jonsson posted today on SAAB's news site:

Some artists have played with the Saab-Koenigsegg team:

Wow!! Is it my imgaination or do these two cars actually look related??!! Look at the A pillars and the sweep of the side window as it reaches the rear... Lovely! :))

Can't wait for the new Saab-Koenigseggs to roll off the production line! If a new convertible is as nice as I'm hoping it will be, I'll be first in line for it! :)))

Awesome!!

As awesome as these pics are and they are. The Aero-X is by far the hottest car on the planet to me. For a car that is over 3yrs old now, it still looks very current by comparison. I have to agree though, the car looks absolutely huge next to the CCX, I thought it was much smaller than that, Wow! Great photos though...

Love JAJ's wry smile when talking about the "real work actually starts". LOL.

That SAAB AeroX Coupe is a bomb.

Great photos and impossible to resist the thoughts of how this new direction can work for both companies when you see these cars together. However, it really does make the point that the AeroX is a concept and the CCXR is a production car. The AeroX looks like a cartoon car by comparison. Wheel size particularly!

I'm going to be harsh and say that while the images are great & possibilities enthralling, the production versions of the NG95, 94X and 91 in showrooms are the cars I really want to see. Then the halo car can come along and really blow our minds.

Well, now the CCXR is SAAB's halo car the Aero-X is superfluous.

I'd like both of them (can but dream).

Actually I'll take the Aero X cos my middle aged back says I can get in it without pain!

The futures bright, the futures Koenigsegg-Saab.

Seems these got picked up by Autoblog. I don't remember the last time so many people admitted they would wet their pants because of a Saab.

Markac: That is one of my favorite concept sketches by far that I've seen. If Saab makes cars that look anything like this, it will be a quick rise to the top for them! Personally I think this sketch could have easily been what the 9-4x should have looked like, maybe just raised a few inches higher though...

If Koenigsegg pay any more than a token amount they are getting ripped off.....
The newest cars are built on GM chassis, carry the same ugly nose and dashboard they have since the 70s and use a V6 block assembled in Australia, oh and its built in the most expensive place on the planet to build cars.
You people are creaming your pants over a styling exercise that was released 3 years ago,For some reason it was never made (looks crap could be one reason) You may see that sort of body on a Koenigsegg, but you'll be getting the same boring 'parts bin' SAABs that have been dished up for the last decade, possibly it could get worse and SAAb may import small Asian cars and re-badge them as SAAB, its not like they have the money (or technology) to make their own small car. GM did their dough on SAAB, Koenigsegg will do the same.

The good part of that is it's a few minutes of Tricky's life that he won't get back again. What a waste. - SW

Welcome to SU, Tricky. You and Swade will be best friends.

It is very interesting to see how the SAAB-prototype, is far more progressive, clean-cutted, original and innovative, designwise, then the Koenigsegg, which - though nice - in many ways are predictable and close to other well-known "supercars".....
I realy hope this "fusion" will alloud SAAB to continue and develop its clean scandinavian design-line...

Agree. What impressed me the most with the Aero-X, the 9-X BHC, and the 9-X Air were that they are cars with clean, simple lines and yet I didn't feel like "been there, done that".

Being a recent Saab convert, this merger looks like it could be the best thing that's happened to saab for a long while.

I think the current Saab line up is very good but with one BIG flaw.... 200+ BHP and Front Wheel Drive.... pleeeeeeeaaaaasssssseeeeeee Koenigsegg give Saab Rear Wheel Drive and I think Saabs would then have what it takes to bring the Germans down a peg or two! ;-D
