Saabs United - bringing people and cars together....

May 2nd, 2009:

I posted a story about Saabs sitting around on dealer lots with rather large discounts sitting on them. A Turbo X with 23% off, for example:

From the dealer:

The story about the Turbo X combi still sitting on a lot is all too true over here; I have one sitting in my showroom right now that is exactly the same story, it was MY demo for 3 months, has about 3000 miles on it, and is an absolute steal of a deal, but nobody will touch it- To give you an idea of what I'm talking about here, the thing was $46,105 sticker, and it's down to $35,542. That's 23% off! I've bought a suit for 23% off, maybe a toaster.... but a Turbo X?

From me:

If anyone's interested in picking up an X at a bargain price (or a Lynx Yellow convertible), shoot me an email and I'll put you in touch with John. He's on the US East Coast, but I'm sure he'll help out anyone. Ask for the extra special SU discount :-)

I got an email in my inbox about a week later from a guy named Mark, which I passed on to JohnC, the dealer who originally wrote to me. I hadn't thought any more about it.

June 11, 2009:

From JohnC:

Thanks for putting Mark O in contact with me, he's now the proud owner of our last Turbo X :-)

Here he is lining up for takeoff!

Congratulations to both Mark and JohnC on the deal.

These cars need good homes. I'm pleased to see another X making it's way to a caring owner.

Enjoy the car, Mark! I know you will!

Swade, I lost count of how many Saabs you have sold after my X. :)

Wish that was me in the pic. Oh well. :-(
Bringing people and Saabs together is a great cause, I'm sure the people in Trollhattan will appreciate it. This article seems like Deja Vu, my apologies if it's been covered before. There's an interesting story in The Local:
Swedish auto town cannot imagine life without Saab
.

Covered in snippets a few days ago, Ted. But yeah, it's a great story. I probably should have given it it's own post, actually.

That's great Mark! Mine just past it's 1 year birthday. With 20K on the dial - I love this car. Rock solid mechanics, great looks, and fun to drive.

For the b-day celebration, I gave her a nice clay bar courtesy of Meguiar's, followed by a full tape and wax job.

Good god that Turbo X is gorgeous. Id love to pic one up in about four years but it would have to be a manual.

Man, I'm jealous!

Great to see a new owner of a TurboX! Congratulations also to the dealer, we know how hard it is to sell a TurboX at the moment! We also have some cars on stock to really special prices! The last new TurboX in Europe, manuel gear! I love this cars!!! Good job Steven :-)

Saabsunited, bringing together good cars with good people, and brining good people, together.

Thanks everyone. Love the car already. Enjoyed blowing past a few late model Mercedes on the way home. It took me awhile to give myself the go ahead to buy the car because I already owned a 2006 9-3 Aero Sports Combi that I planned on keeping a number of years and only had 23,000 miles on, but the Turbo X is quite a vehicle. Thanks to SWade for putting me in touch with JohnC.

Good choice Mark. I hope it will bring you many, many moments of pure joy! :)

BTW, I traded that 2006 9-3 Aero Sport Combi and it has only 23,000 miles on it. If anyone is looking for a great car with low miles for the model year get in touch with JohnC. He is in the mid-Atlantic - northeast region. With 23,000 miles its practically new!

according to this dealer website, they have 9 Turbo X's
