We had our own spy in the Austrian Alps a few days ago who caught the 2010 Saab 9-5 in testing, but it seems there were plenty of others there with cameras too.
Our mates at Auto Motor and Sport in Sweden have snapped up some great images of the car.
Here’s some smaller versions but you can click through to AMS to see the full size pics.

AMS will also be featuring their own CGI of the new Saab 9-5 wagon on their next cover and I’m told the illustration is around 98% accurate.
Good thing, as it looks like an absolute blinder!!

Autoweek.nl also have some alpine shots of the 9-5 sedan in testing.
Plenty of shots for you to see and something different in all the angles covered. It won’t be long now……

The lower parts of the front and rear bumpers are still covered. The detail on the side skirt (lower part of the door) is now isn’t disguised any more. But as the “opening” is covered, I’m still thinking it is only a design gadget, without function.
The wagon looks sharp.
I can’t wait to see it in the metal.

THATS a great CGI of the new 9-5 sportcombi, both sporty and elegant at the same time!
I want one with a 160/190 hp TDI with dubbel clutch gear box, glas roof, leather interior and then maybe a Vector/Aero trim.
sleek Combi. and “Fardig” means what in English? not lazy, I have to sign off.
“Färdig” means complete.
Gotta say that Combi is smooooth! Have been reading articles that the car is just over 5 metres long ie the size of a BMW7, WOW!
I only hope it has some interesting surface detail but please dont go OTT like they did with the new Merc E, UGH!
Yeah, I’m likin’ the look of the SportCombi. I’m looking forward to seeing real pictures, and later, the real thing in person.

Logically we shouldn’t actually have any problems with the side vent being only a “design gadget without function”, since front grilles have been just that for ages (the air intake is almost always under the bumper).
Besides, “everybody does it”
(I know. I don’t think it feels Saabish either. Logic and feelings are separate things…)
I don’t have any problems with it, but on a earlier post many here at SU speculated of it having an aerodynamic function, which I denied.
And BTW Upper grilles have a function, not that much on “american” cars, but on European cars, normally the air coming through the front openings is divided from 40/60 till 30/70 (Upper/lower).
Very rakish and sleek looking sedan on the road. Touch of the BMW 7 series in its road stance to me. Teh wagon does indeed look sharp too. Seems like we’ll have very clearly differentiated 95 and 93s very soon.
The vent on the side reminds of a Casper and Hobbes cartoon. I’m parafrasing, but it was something like this: “Why did you put holes in your helmet?” “They’re air holes. They make you go faster!” So now you know. The next thing we will see from Saab is a transmogrifier
