US: Swedish Car Day X coming on October 18

You northern hemisphere people have just enjoyed what I hope was a decent summer full of nice outings and gatherings with some of your Saaby friends. Soon, your clocks will switch back and your daylight hours will shorten.
But there’s one last big Saab gathering you can get to if you’re in the north-eastern US.
Swedish Car Day. And it’s the tenth anniversary of the Brookline, Mass, event this year, too.
This information comes from the organisers at Charles River Saab:

SwedishCarDayX.jpg The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is upon us: Swedish Car Day! This will be our TENTH Swedish Car Day on the lawn at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum and will take place on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 9am to 3pm. Whether you’ve never been to a Swedish Car Day, or you’ve been to every single one, this is an event not to be missed.
Hosted by Charles River Saab and Boston Volvo Village on the grounds of Larz Anderson Park – 15 Newton Street in Brookline, Massachusetts – we expect between 150 and 200 Saabs and Volvos representing virtually every iteration of these fine cars going back to the 1950’s. There will be pristine cars, modified cars, “diamonds in the rough,” ordinary stock cars, and everything in between.
There are surprises every year! Besides the raffles and judging of the lawn cars (with special prizes this year for winning cars!), the parts tents and vendor displays, we will also feature guest speakers Keith Hart from Saab, recounting his days with Saab-Scania and Saab Cars USA, along with Ralph Bockoven, who will display his 1968 Sonett and talk about its restoration and the fun he’s had since it was completed. The newly assembled Saab North America will be sending representatives as well.
To have your car displayed on the lawn in the glory of so many other Saabs, please pre-register at www.swedishcarday.com. The $20 registration fee (cash or check payable to “Larz Anderson Auto Museum”), which includes entry into the museum, will be collected upon entry to the lawn.

This is an event that we’ve covered in the past and it always appears to be well attended and enjoyed by all.
