This whole campaign to support Saab in this sale process now has a theme song :-)
It's called Griffin Up! and it was written and recorded by a regular here at SU, a Swede named David Blumberg.
I reckon David's done an absolutely brilliant job of this. and to think that someone could be so moved as to put all that together is just really heartwarming.
------
For those who need some context here......
Christopher Johnson from Merbanco (one of the bidders for Saab) has commented on this site a number of times now and he signs off with the phrase "Cowboy Up!". People have adopted this and formulated their own "........ Up!" phrases, with David adopting Griffin Up! for the song.

really a cool vid:)
i hope Saab use more rock in their advert:)
Post this video on your FB status and share the call to actions!

But in the trust: These clever little marketing rascals of GM really really impressed me deeply. So Big Ed rocks the house now? Car Marketing 2.0? Wow!
(Last time I've seen such brilliance: That was 10 years ago: Opening of this new supermarket around the corner.)
***********************************************
german n-tv (link at bottom) writes "saabunited"
(That may be a new … technique ... or?)
there Any financial support allowing other activities than press releases? Ex focused marketing s site or message? Again, great work!!
(Now deleted?)
SU rocks, again!
Griffin UP indeed!

google translation is not the best. dn wrote that saab 9-5 will be a new opel senator.
maybe someone can put a translation with keyfacts online.
bunch of *ssholes @ GM
i never was a fan of GM, and i think i never will, after reading the article in DN.se
SAAB WILL NEVER DIE! NEVER!
AND WHEN IT COMES TO LIFE, WE WILL ALL F@CK U ALL THE WAY
GM has no idea what to do , and no plan with OPEL.
that thing that OPEL doesn´t need yet is a OPEL senator. the opel brand has also demolished for years. Nobody who can afford it ( in europe) would by an OPEL premium car this time.
They have to produce their cheap small cars like OPEL CORSA or ASTRA
STOP with lies GM - The SAAB 9.5 is a Trollhättan product no Ruesselsheim product.
Fingers down for BIG ED
Great video - imagine what GM (with their budgets) could have done to sell Saabs when they were supposedly trying if they used videos like these and the passion behind this video and song!
Why didn't they do things like use video of those Saabs in the snow? My point being that in addition to other shortcomings about GM's (mis)management of Saab, I don't think they did a great job with marketing as well.
As a lifelong Saab fan I always enjoy Saab ads, but those produced under GM didn't all have such passion nor did they help to attract new buyers not already familiar with the fantastic Saab brand.
Perhaps in its next life (I hope) Saab marketing will include things that promote what makes them special and shine!
Griffin Up!
i quote (copy/translate/paste, so the translation may be a bit shaky, we all know how google translates):
removed at the request of The Oracle
so:
fingers crossed & SAAB UP!
and if all goes well: NO SAAB 95NG AS OPEL SENATOR!(or worse).
One of them, ntv.de, have already published a story about it:
http://www.n-tv.de/auto/reportagen/Saab-Freunde-kaempfen-article655866.html
It's called: Saab friends are fighting
Nice title...
german union workers told medias to close SAAB ,and Trollhättan.
There is enough stuff - where is the swedish pride?? or is it also stolen by GM
quote starts
**edited at the request of The Oracle - SW**

Interesting...Spyker and Merbanco got into bed together? Fiat, after all? Or BMW? Can't be the Chinese, surely the oracle wouldn't consider that a good thing for Saab.

According to "Dagens Industris" sources GM plans to use the new Saab 9-5 in their own model program, among others to a future Buick in the USA. In a letter to Saabs subcontractors GM has estimated the time for the closure of Saab to five years.
Sources whitin Saab Automobile has told "Dagens industri" that GM now sees positive opportunities with a closure of Saab. By using Saab's technique, tools and production equipment GM is able to take advatage of the new 9-5 - wich should have been introduced this spring - into a future Buick in USA.
Within GM the talks goes about using the Saab technique in a production of a new premium car for Opel, according to DI:s sources. In that case it would be a reintroduction for the previous abandoned Opel Senator in Europe.
According to estimations the value of the new Saab 9-5 model should be about the same as the Chinese BAIC payed for the technique rights of the old 9-5, which is 1,4 billion Swedish kronor (SEK).
DI:s sources also says that GM can get away with quite small costs for the closure of Saab if the American car giant takes sufficient of time for the wind down.
In a letter to Saabs subcontractors GM has estimated the time for the closure of Saab to five years. If the activity continues for some time the costs for removing the employees could be minimized.
According to those plans the merchandise inventory should be closed and on hand orders be delivered. Engineers and production technichians who builds BAIC's three Chinese "Saab"-factories will generate a income to GM for several years in the future.
Håkan Danielsson, chairman of the Akademikerna at Saab, says to DI that GM on a
committee meeting this Monday informed about a sketch for the closure. Lists shall now be worked out for which activities are to be stopped first and which should be continued.
"One thing is clar and that is that the Saab museum will survive", says Håkan Danielsson.

Griffin up!
Saab up!
What's funny though is I was thinking it would be cool if someone made a song about it. All I came up with is "A Song for a Saab" which is a parody of the new Smashing Pumpkins song "A Song for a Son." This was much better than anything I could've come up with--well done!
Griffin up!
Griffin UP!
Great Video! The SAAB community is a special place! SAAB has to survive!
Saab Up!
There are some nice cars yet to be done...
Swade Up!
I need a MP3 of that! This could make it into the charts in no time.
BTW: Is this the guy:

Griffing up!
I've sent the song to various radio stations in Sweden requesting them to play it. If this gets through we're gonna get lots of publicity. I'm hoping!
Anyone have more ideas of where we could send this video/song?
BTW, anyone who wants the mp3 version (such as 74stingray) can send me an email and I'll send it back.
Griffin Up!
Sorry!
I listented to it 4-5 times last night and have it on in my headset as I type this.
This morning I woke up and the first words out of my mouth to my wife was "Griffin UP"...... you can imagine the look.... it was the equivalent of "not now, I have a headache" LOL
Griffin UP!

My compliments to David Blumberg for an outstanding video/music production.
When Saab is reborn, and it WILL be reborn, the new owners should use this music video to relaunch the brand!
I feel proud watching this video to be a SAAB driver.
