Last time I checked in, the Dutch had around 360 vehicles signed up for their Saab Support Convoy on January 17th.
Of course, the Swedes are holding a Saab Support Convoy of their own and it seems they’re aiming to give the Dutch a run for their money in terms of the number of cars that turn out.
Nothing like a bit of friendly competition, eh?
OK, they’re not competing. That’s my silly talk. But the Swedes are looking to get as many people to Trollhattan as possible for the Swedish Saab Support Convoy.
The Swedish event is being set up by the Saab Turbo Club of Sweden and they’re aiming to have 500 Saabs in attendance. They would like to encourage everyone with a Saab in the Trollhattan area (and beyond!) to come to Trollhättan on the 17th of January.
Attendees don’t have to be a member of any Saab Club, they just have to own and drive their Saab and show their support for Saab.
500 Saab Cars in a row should in theory mean there would be approximately 10,000 meters of Saab Cars. That’s equal to a Swedish mile!

In short, they plan to gather at 11.00 o’clock at the Saab Car Museum in Trollhättan. At around 13.00/13.30 they will form a big Saab Convoy through the town of Trollhättan out
to the Saab development and assembly plant, arriving at 14.00.

dont forget us Brits!!
the event is taking shape nicely here
I hope we get to see cars also from Denmark and Norway in Trollhättan.
At least one norwegian will show up. Me!
I know I’m off-topic,

Griffin UP!
There will be a good bit of people from Denmark joining.
It is being arranged at the moment
Luxembourg is supposed to join in on the Dutch convoy! Can’t wait to see it happening.
Russia with you, brothers!
I lie down in Trolhattan to you in support!!
Saab must live!
I will try to make it. My driver’s license will be valid again (in Sweden) on the 17th, so it will be a challenge to buy a car in time for the parade, but I’ll try.
Россия с вами, братья!
Я ложусь в Trolhattan вам в поддержке!

I think that only can be a good thing. If anywhere the convoys should be largest in Detroit and Thtn for max effect. Besides that, finally the Swedes themselfs are kicking in (something I missed a bit)
But honour where honour’s due for the initiative. I think 360 cars is the most the Dutch initiative can handle organisation wise.
This part from saabhistory made me smile:
Amsterdam, Trollhattan, Zeewolde, is a 1400mile round trip. It would take 20+ hours of continuous driving with a single 9-5 Aero, let alone a convoy of 300+ cars.

I hear they’re going to have a military like convoy organisation in holland, complete with sub convoys, police escorts, highway exits blocked and so on. Very responsible and wise, because the publicity could turn all the way against us if something bad happens.
Do the Germans have a convoy?
Ladies and Gentleman we proudly present: In the Blue corner the official unbeaten World champion the Dutch Saab Support Convoy…. and now in the Red corner represending Sweden, the team that takes the challange: The Swedish Saab Support Convoy… Let the fight begin!
It’s not our challenge to put 500+ Saabs in a convoy. We want to setup a good convoy, quality and safety. I hope the Swedish organization will get more Saabs on the road than we did. It’s all about exposure for Saab, we want to show Saab owners are loyal to their brand.
Saab proud to own… happy to drive
Jacco, I am sorry, I don’t think we have one… *shame*
But I think it wouldn’t find much attention in the german public after all this mess with GM, Magna and Opel for several months…
Not a fair fight…you’ve got Belgians as well
Not fair? you’ve got the East-Block
Please – just to inform the good Saab enthusiasts from Germany and Holland going north the 16/17. of jan.
Taking the rute via the island FYN, the bridgt to Zealand and the bridgt to Sweeden – you will save money – than going with ferry from Frederikshavn to Sweeden.
The Danish Saab Entusiasts will be at the highway patrol station at Fyn – 20 km from the bridge at 09.00 Saturday, heading east. Join the danish Convoy.

Just to be clear: the right information about the Dutch convoy can be found at http://www.saab9k.nl Some misinformation is spreaded on this site. The Dutch convoy will NOT travel to Sweden, this is and was never our intention.

In The Netherlands we’ve got a saying and I don’t know if it work when I make a direct translation but it tolds:
With some magic the rabbits will come out of the hat.
Means the Dutchies will have a surprise for the ‘ battle’. Can’t give too much details at this moment but keep checking our website for more info. I think we will grow ‘ a little’ bigger
