Merbanco made their bid for Saab Automobile

by Swade on January 8, 2010

Good morning all,
I can inform you that Merbanco have confirmed that they submitted a bid for Saab Automobile today.
Lots of other news to get through, including what I’d refer to as a hatchet job by the WSJ.
Back soon.

Can’t wait!

I’m not religious, but I AM PRAYING FOR YOU CJ!!! And everyone who has a chance at saving Saab…

Ultimately, the only thing that can shut up the WSJ and other media hatchet jobs is a successful sale.

I admire the pluck that it takes to dance with this bunch at GM. Working against an unforgiving tide wears on you.

5 9kCDgriffin January 8, 2010 at 7:58 am

hold your breath, keep your fingers crossed, nibble your finger nails, sit on your thumbs…what else is there to do to hope for the best?
if everything fails: shoot the bastards at Greedy Morons!

6 adam curtis January 8, 2010 at 7:59 am

can anyone confirm the remaining companies involed?

7 mrT January 8, 2010 at 8:02 am

CJ, you ara a rock! In any case its sends a message to the swedish government and to GM that there are multiple alternatives to a wind-down. The swedish government now has a duty to facilitate the sale to the preffered bidder. I hope there is more in the briefcase on the detroit trip than posters/applications from the EIB!

COWBOY UP!! GO CJ! WOOOT!

9 MitchbSC January 8, 2010 at 8:03 am

Good mornin’ Swade. Can’t wait for the ride this evening. Hope you recovered from yesterday’s unfortunate escapade.

NO EIB loan…no deal for anyone…its a GM requirement.

11 berelaxed January 8, 2010 at 8:04 am

What a ride!!! Go CJ!

12 Dippen January 8, 2010 at 8:04 am

Go CJ Go!

Whaddya mean you’re not religious, Raquettelaker2 ? You’re knee-deep in the Saab cult, man ! :-D

14 max January 8, 2010 at 8:06 am

NO EIB loan…no deal for anyone…its a GM requirement. If these bids fail because the Swedish Gov’t didn’t get them a letter of support from the EIB the blood of Saab will be directly on the hands of the Swedish Gov’t.

COWBOY UP, CJ !!

16 Ken H January 8, 2010 at 8:18 am

COWBOY UP CJ!!
and thanks for all your work.

19 Daniel Bentzer January 8, 2010 at 8:22 am

GO CJ!!
You have all my support from Sweden!!
Cowboy UP!

20 Jasper January 8, 2010 at 8:26 am

I am proud of TEAM SAAB

21 Hald. January 8, 2010 at 8:41 am

I don’t think the Swedish gov’t will be the problem. It’s election this year. Wasn’t it the long, administrative process in the EU-commission that delayed- and finally led to the K-egg Group dropout? I’m more worried about the EU-commission.

Cowboy up..

23 riku1100s January 8, 2010 at 8:47 am

24 Daniel January 8, 2010 at 8:49 am

CJ is our hero here!

25 Stefan January 8, 2010 at 8:55 am

This is a rollercoster ride for sure! CJ/merbanco/”sason” are still in. Spyker are in and now Ecclestone/Genii..
I still hope for CJ and his partners so ..
Cowboy up!

26 Mike900 January 8, 2010 at 8:56 am

….any talk of closing Saab after today’s news is a JOKE!
I wonder if GM are slowly realising what they’ve missed out on all these years?
There’s demand for this brand of ours :-)

27 MrY January 8, 2010 at 9:33 am

CJ,
Is cash part also of your offer? As all other bidders have such in their quote it will probably be required to be the winner!

28 ivo 71 January 8, 2010 at 9:34 am

Good luck, CJ. You’ve got some tough competition out there but, as the old song says, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
Thought about joining forces with Spyker yet, have you?
Ivo

(shhh) *whispering* actually it is…I said I’d take a few days off from SU…
but this is great news!!!!!!
bye.

30 zippy January 8, 2010 at 10:03 am

This is more exciting than Christmas morning as a kid.
Cowboy Up!
Griffin Up!
You know what really makes me mad at GM saying SAAB is unprofitable? The fact that GM hasnt made a profit since 2004 and is $17500000000 in debt.
GM must sell SAAB to someone, they need the money!

31 Viking Up! January 8, 2010 at 10:09 am

Merbanco only? Or Merbanco/”Sason”?
Swade, is there any specific reason you didn’t use the words “Sason”, “Swedish” or “consortium” in your post? Or do I just read too much into nothing?

32 Swade January 8, 2010 at 10:12 am

More on that shortly.
Not only does the game change hourly, the players switch sides at will :-)

33 Ken H January 8, 2010 at 10:17 am

Sounds like they are playing aussie rules…

34 riku1100s January 8, 2010 at 10:20 am

So, I assume, us supporters are allowed to reconsider as well ?
Must go to sleep. I wonder how this constant LOL’ling and sleeping go together…

35 74stingray January 8, 2010 at 10:32 am

Maybe GM is the one that need to have a “Bake Sale”, not Saab as stated in the WSJ story/blog

36 Nate 9-3 January 8, 2010 at 11:37 am

CJ,
Regardless of what happens you have earned the respect of SAAB nation!
Cowboy Frick’n Up!

37 Kroum January 8, 2010 at 12:17 pm

Go CJ! Cowboy Up!

38 Markac January 8, 2010 at 12:41 pm

There are some people who are really dedicated to Saab amongst these bidders.
If GM scuttles all their bids, I hope they can combine their efforts.

39 Markac January 8, 2010 at 12:56 pm

Best of luck CJ!
It would be great if one of ‘us’ can win.
Cowboy Up!

40 zippy January 8, 2010 at 1:53 pm
