SaabUSA website now updated

Goodbye to the old.

Hello to the new.

Saab’s US website has now come into line with the international site and updated themes from many countries around the world. Now, all the people seeing those groovy new Saab ads on TV and in print will land somewhere inviting when they look up saabusa.com.

We’ve been talking about this (and a few other things) for a long time. It’s great to see it all coming together, at last.

Hate to whine, but there seems to be some problems with car configurator. I’m sure it’s just a temporary glitch and that they’re fixing it. Otherwise, huray!

The website doesn’t work for the iPhone. I am not demanding immediate attention to this as I know SAAB has a long list of things on it’s plate. Still, I hope SAAB ensures some form of smartphone compatibility in the future.

Of course it doesn’t work with iPhone. The subject “why” we all know – FLASH.

And let’s not get into the discussion here about Flash on iPhone or websites using Flash.

Try this
I/we know that the Saab site in not iWhatever friendly, but at least they have one of those App-things.

their app needs some help too…
unlike others, it is upside down and doesnt re-orient itself when you turn your ipad around.

Looks good, although I have also noticed a glitch or two. I went to the “find a dealer” page and after looking at the search results, tried to get back to “home” page. Several attempts resulted in just a blank area where the initial welcome had been. Since others have said that this is similar in format to the international site, is this a common issue seen there also?

I had the same issue. I had to reload the home page from scratch. ALso……..

The Good News. There is a new Saabusa website. Potemkin is no longer listed as a dealer.
The Bad News. Not a single New Jersey dealer is listed.
Entering a city (ie, New York, NY) returns an error. Entering a ZIP works, but not for Jersey. Entering my zip in New York, gives me dealers in Pennsylvania, but not Jersey.

Beautiful πŸ™‚ Finally!
Always loved the international site!!

(Always found that spinning turbine while loading awful, though…
…and I’m not sure of this total dependency in flash: it’s not available for every platform and I don’t know if it is really future-proof.)

Any serious website should have a flash-free version. Not so much to just appease the flash impaired, but also for people with slower computers and connections. I have a reasonably fast connection and fast laptop, still I’m getting annoyed by waiting for the friggin propeller to disappear.

Turbine wheel= Heritage… πŸ™‚ I like it and always have….. I agree it is a little slow to load… but then again, it’s probably handling a lot more traffic today than usual πŸ™‚

Using Google Chrome (Windows 7) * Vehicles / Features & Specs: Images missing, both in the upper section and when clicking Engines for enlargement. * Build your Saab / 9-5 / Options step: Empty tabs (Package) * Submission/contact forms with light blue background runs into page foot, e.g. Contact Saab. * Mixed headlines ‘Locate a Dealer’ and ‘Find a Dealer’ (minor) * ‘Request more information’ form phone number fields crossing gray/blue background border (minor) * Several pages require reloads to display content, could be me being on the wrong side of the pond with a slow connection to the new… Read more »

New site is much better!!
I noticed a couple of things right off of the bat…when you “Find a dealer” their website is not listed just an email address. If I’m looking for a close dealer I want to be linked to their site and be able to check their inventory right away not go through email.
Also if you go to the trouble of “building” a car the search engine then needs to go out and find that car (or as close as possible) right away.

1. Not only are dealers not listed or clickable. There is no phone number listed.
2. After one dealer search, it is difficult to do another.
3. Dealer Search does not respond to City and State. Only ZIP
4. No New Jersey dealers listed.
5. Site gets lost after a bit of navigation. For instance, if you go first to Saab World and History, links to Vehicles, etc. do not work.Page needs to be reloaded from scratch.
6. Saabs United is listed at the bottom of the Saab ENthusiast Websites page.

At last, awesome! πŸ™‚

Another issue though: If I try to visit the site with my iPhone I get links to non-flash-content regarding 9-3X and 9-5 – these pages doesn’t exist (for example one link is pointing to this page http://www.saabusa.com/saab-9-3x/facts.html).

If these non-Flash-pages are supposed to be active, there should even be info about the regular 9-3 as well as the 9-4X. And why no link to the Saab-app if I try to surf the site on an iPhone?

Swade,
You might want to check out this link! Some of the products show a 9-3 convertible, in what looks to be independence day edition! A new color, wider wheel arches, and new wheels are shown in the picture in the background and in the game.

Thanks, aZuL2001

Saab USA needs to become Saab North America ASAP. Theres plenty of customers and potentials in Canada and Mexico and dealers or former ones looking for support. And they can change everything to METRIC cuz Saab peeps already got that figured anyway.

Fred-
Saab Cars North America is the Saab organization out of Royal Oak that takes care of North America. This is just the U.S. site. There are Canadian and Mexican websites online as well.

I get the idea of why they are promoting the 9-4X , pre launch, but if they are in the midst launching a major ad campaign based on the 9-5 in the US, why is that not the first thing I see when I go to their web site. I shouldn’t have to hunt for that

fred diesel

And the 94x is made in Mexico…the 95s 4 cylinder in Tonawanda NY!!

This was some much-needed good news for me today. I am very happy US customers can now enjoy the very tasteful and elegant design devised by whoever created this international look. I hope this stays put for years to come. Unfortunately, there are still countries waiting in line for a version thereof… πŸ™ That said, on second reflection, I realized we have been told time and time again it’s a big IT issue with integrating systems, migrating from GM and whatnot that prevented this from happening earlier. And now, many months later, we see the same website as usual, plus… Read more »

Update. City and State work. There is a separate box for State off to the side which I didn’t notice. I had been entering “New York, NY” instead of separately. But the location of the “City and State” prompt should be moved over to the right to encompass both boxes/

In regards to mobile, I’d assume they’ll have a mobile site up and running soon – this site was first priority (even though mobile browsing is exploding while desktop is staying flat.. it’s becoming more of a priority).

Great improvement! What I really liked is the history bits, where you can follow the Saab firsts/milestones. Also Innovations and info on the Saab brand is great. Finally, the links explaining all details in the spec when building your car is great, always wanted to know exactly what EBA was… A few minor snags so far (Chrome on OSx 10.6.6): – Some times I’ve got server too busy (good?) – Some items empty (like museum) – Owner Benefits – link to Owner Center leads to dead GM/Yahoo dest. – Often, clicking a link, nothing happens, only a force reload (click… Read more »

well you win some an lose some. New Jersey dealers now are listed in the dealer search. However, Potamkin and Mayers Auto Mall are both listed as New York City dealers. Neither are still Saab dealers.
