New Login procedure
March 31, 2011 in Uncategorized
Due to the fact that there are too many comments that could be regarded as spam and that too many comments are unfounded and just expressions of anger, AND that most of the people writing these comments use fake e-mails, I have locked the comments for non-registered users. So from now on everyone who wants to comment also needs to register with a real e-mail address. The standard user-rights will be that of subscriber.
I’m sorry for this inconvenience but I’m afraid it had to be done =(
If you have any problems with the registration please contact our admins at: saabsunitedcrew@gmail.com

UPDATE 1
It seems that there were some glitches with the smtp server so I have opened the comments again until it has been resolved… There is no need to register for the time being, once comments are working again you’ll see a normal comment option as you always have. Please be patient, it might take some time for the server to update the database and allow comments again…

UPDATE 2
The problem was the e-mail server that didn’t work with the right SSL port, I fixed it now so everyone should get their passwords =)

And you can even edit your comment, pretty swanky huh?
ivo 71 said on March 31, 2011
How? Can you edit an already placed comment, I mean.

Trying to…

Not by hitting ‘previous page’, editing and sending off again, obviously…

Doesn’t look like a “subscriber” can edit comments. I didn’t see it as a profile option and we newly registered subscribers can’t see an edit button or something to enable that feature when needed.

Looks like a 9-5 ain’t t?
Jeff said on March 31, 2011
A really ugly one. That blacked out A-Pillar and the way the rear window slopes down is straight up robbery though. And the biggest design bit they stole was the trunk lid, it’s got the exact same contours of the 9-5′s. Makes me aaaangry, lol. Notice it’s a hatch too. Arrrgh.

C’mon Jeff,
it is just a butt ugly mash-up.
Grill: Jaguar
Front lights: Opel Ampera
Sideline: Saab 9-5
Logo on the trunk: Mini/Bentley
Shark-Fin: In the wrong direction.
in one word: Butt-ugly

I am glad you have taken this measure; I, too, was getting fed up with some of the down right rude or mendacious comments. The real delight of SU is the sense of community. Well done.

Thank you!
The login works perfect now!
Well done Tim!

Don’t like it, but fully understand it in this case.
Keep it up SU!!

Yeah. But the site is now rather slow (using Firefox, have not tried coming from Explorer yet).

I’m fine with the log in. SIte seems ok using Safari on a Windows PC.

Looks like this comment section is going to be a test. Except for having to create yet another password, this has been pretty simple.

No editing of your own comments, though.

SU somehow got registered (not by me) as a site that cannot set cookies. Only after removing it from there, did the login work (this is using SeaMonkey 2.0.13 on Mac OSX).
:S :s :-S :-s

SU still occasionally crashes my browser and updating a gravatar also fails: username and/or password are mistakenly reported as incorrect. That’s a cookie issue too, I think.

Tim,
If you navigate to the “Saab Car Clubs” from the menu bar on the front page then at the bottom of the page says:
Contact swade99-at-gmail.com to have your Saab Car Club added to this list.
I think you must change the email address to the new SU one. Right?
