UPDATE:

Translation from the video:

- Josefine Gabrielsson: Good morning, the Saab fans are a tried group who seldom gives up, and the website SaabsUnited certainly is proof of that. The news website which for a long time has been run from Tasmania has now received a new owner on the other side of the globe and found its way home.

- Jesper Larsson: The website by the Saab-Fans for the Saab-Fans have in the month of march reach record levels with more than 750’000 visitors in one month. Very happy about this is the guy from Trollhättan, Tim Rokka who recently bought the website from the australian Steven Wade.

- Tim Rokka: it was a lot of fun, a lot of work, a whole lot of work, but it has been a lot of fun, we have a very good team working on the site so it feels like we have gotten of to a good start. Its a big task but its also a lot of fun that SaabsUnited now lives where Saab lives, in Trollhättan.

- Jesper Larsson: 10 Saab-Fans are spread around the world working on the website and the requirements are high considering that the website for a long time has been a leading source of SAAB related news.

- Tim Rokka: if we get news of something, we call Saabs information department to confirm the story and if they are ok with it we go ahead and publish it and then we are often first out with the news. We have people in Trollhättan, Stockholm, NewYork, Australia, Moscow and more places helping us out.

- Jesper Larsson: For Tim and the others, the most important thing right now is to give a correct image of what is happening at Saab, something they feel that media in general is not doing.

- Tim Rokka: I cant see that it is a crisis for Saab right now…
- Jesper Larsson: How can you be so sure?
- Tim Rokka: It feels like sales are increasing, Saab has some great products. It feels that Saab is headed in the right direction.
- Jesper Larsson: What can a website like SaabsUnited mean for a time like this?
- Tim Rokka: It can mean community among Saab owners and others interested in discussing issues about Saab.

  1. Nice car you have there!

  2. Very well done Tim.

  3. Thomas, Denmark

    Very well done!

I like that you mentioned the fact, that the swedish media don’t always report in a fair manner, and that sales are increasing!

Congrats! Looks like a very improved version of my own car, but I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with this color :) )

  5. Great interview! It is good to get the message out :)

  6. Nice, short interview. Also, Josefine looks hot. :D

  7. I can’t get the website running…is there maybe a transcript?

  8. Very nice, short but very clear.

I hope you did not leave the laptop there… :)

  9. Off topic:

Production has stopped again today, for the same reason as before… When will it stop? as long as this keeps happening, Saab keeps getting bad press..

    • You got to be kidding? Not again. This will for sure fuel the fire. Let’s talk about Vovovo who had to stop the production for MONTHS due to environmental reasons. The cars were simply not environmental-friendly enough. Now that is bad but did the papers print that everyday? Nope.

    • It’ll happen over and over, and hopefully the press will get tired of reporting it. Stopping shipments of supplies has proven an effective way of getting paid and pretty much has zero downside for the acting party through this situation. Any supplier who has a remotely weak balance sheet, whether or not it has anything to do with Saab, will be using this tactic for the foreseeable future should payments not be the least bit late. They’ll get the line running again.

In other news, it appears there is a MacBook Pro up for grabs on the lot of the Saab factory :)

  10. That´s right, Jeff.

It is just unfortunate that the suppliers decided to up their ante just as there were positive news pouring in from March sales to 9-5 SC and the Spring Show. Victor and JÅJ should really step up and make things right so that public perception would change for the better.

Hope they can sort everything pronto.

  11. It is great to see the 9-5 in the same color that I have. The Press needs to be held to task for its negative reporting. I always respond to any negativity’ in “The Local.”

For those with Browser problems, click on Help in the menu bar and update to the latest version (this should be done anyway). Also update the add-ons in Tools.

  12. Well done Tim!
    I love SU!! / TL

Off topc: Head of Sales SCNA, Jim Sweeting promising very competitive leasing prices for the US in TTELA article.

  14. “if we get news of something, we call Saabs information department to confirm the story and if they are ok with it we go ahead and publish it and then we are often first out with the news.”

So, Saabsunited is being limited by Saab itself? What if that department doesn’t agree with it? Doesn’t sound independent to me and explains why the Lifewithsaab now looks more like the old SU.

    • SaabsUnited is not limited by SAAB it self but we still dont want to step on their toes and we do need to verify things we hear from the factory… Not everything is true! ;)

AND some things might not be appropriate to publish…

    • robertp,

we call Saabs information department to confirm the story

This one line here is the most important to me, can you say the Swedish media does the same? I’m OK with Tim and the gang here not wanting to step on toes as well, doesn’t seem to me that they are holding much back either. How are they being limited? Do you think that articles about work stoppage is something Saab likes to see? Still it’s written on here. It’s all about balance and I think SU is doing that and getting the stories right before they publish them, if only other media types would do the same.

Nice interview, Tim, and nice to see your car too! :)
It’s great that Saabs United gets some media coverage!

  16. Well done, and big kudos to TV4 for bringing out some positive news too! =)

Saab has a tough enough job getting all the wheels rollong again without media trying to bring out bad news only. =)
