SaabsUnited Exclusive: Unknown cars…
April 23, 2011 in Uncategorized
Here’s an interesting thing for you guys, we have received some photos of some kind of project cars that are parked somewhere at SAAB in Trollhättan, we dont know what these cars are but they are big, bigger than the new 9-5 and they are registered as Holden cars…
Basically there are three of them, all white and they do have some items we find on the 9-5 Sedan, the rear bumper with the “aero” exhausts is one thing, rims is another…
These photos are under COPYRIGHT©SAABSUNITED.COM
Finding the answer to this didn’t take too long for some of our readers, the cars are 2010 Buick LaCrosse… It would seam as SAAB did some development work for Buick in 2008, would be nice to find out more about this!
Here is some info about the cars from the swedish registration database:

Love what seems to be a Buick grille on the middle pic… and the exhaust system component on the trunk seen in the last picture.

Looks like some work that Saab does for GM, nothing special in that sense

I see some Insignias and LaCrosses, all Epsilon II cars. Remeber the LaCrosse shares its wheelbase with the 9-5. Maybe these are cold-weather testing leftovers from the GM days.

Remember the Monster 96? Maybe there is a Holden based on the Lacrosse.

I would say that the most likely usage of these vehicles have been as test mules for our beloved Saab 9-5.

And if you look at the 9-5, KMH893, you will find that it is also a Holden registered in 2008-12-05 which is 6 months later than the “Buicks”.
So is it possible that “KMH893″ is the first ever built ng 9-5?

either it’s some ‘old NG9-5 rubbish’ or it’s something new for a NG93. it is not to be hoped…

I hope that Saab can continue developing for GM. I’m sure it would be a valued source of income for the company.

They are definitely still doing work for GM. An unnamed source at Saab confirmed this to me this week.

I can categorically state with certainty that that is no Holden.

Have seen this lacrosse bodies a couple of times on trailers in port of kiel. Should have been early 2009 i think. I have some Pictures elsewhere.
Wasn’t the KMH 893 body first seen as an insignia with the first ever spotted NG9-5 dashboard?
I think i have some Pictures from this car out of trollhättan from mid 2008.
