Shareholder decision this week

April 19, 2011 in Uncategorized

The NDO is expecting to finish the investigation regarding Vladimir Antonov’s entry into SAAB as a shareholder later this week. This was reported by the respected newspaper Veckans Affärer (weekly business) this morning. The investigation has nothing to do with Vladimir Antonovs purchase of SAAB’s facilities. If SAAB could get both the facilities sold and a new shareholder this week I think we can mark this week as a very good one in SAAB’s history =)

  1. Will this delay production re-start even further? And how long will the EIB take to carry out what seems to be little more than a rubber stamp operation?

No, this is a different thing. Production can be restarted when Saab has the money from the sale of the properties but whether Mr. Antonov gets approved as a shareholder is more about long term financing (but very important nonetheless).

  2. Would be good if they had those decisions now so that the financial issues are solved in the medium term. Would be bad to have a quick solution now that ends up in the same problem a few weeks ago.

In the meantime… buy a Saab!

  3. If there is anybody out there who is interested in buying a Saab in the UK (new or used) then please do give me a call. Ian Allan Saab 01344 842801.

  4. Saabs chinese connection: Swedisch newspaper DI reports about a deal with two chinese car-producer who are interested in investing in Saab. One of them is BAIC who would like to use the new Saab PhoeniX-platform. DI says, that they would like to invest “hunderts of million dollars” in Saab.

    • They are welcome!

    • Suddenly, the obvious choice!

I do hope that, since BAIC is relatively smaller than SAIC or Geely, the relationship would be much more friendly and cooperative. I do hope BAIC would see this as an opportunity to outsource their engineering and design to Saab rather than try to develop the competencies themselves.

    • Great news, Chinese money and a good way in to the worlds biggest car market. If Saab can sell there knowledge and split some cost they are going to be stronger as a company. Sell and share is the best solution for the future, I don´t want to see that Saab is falling into Chanese hands totally, but there money is fine with me. They wan´t tecnology and brands they don´t have themselves. Saab have both so some kind of deal is logical to me anyway.

  5. For all the naysayers that compare Saab’s situation to MG-Rover: this is what distinguishes the situation. Groups that want to invest into the company based on engineering competencies, rather than buy it at a fire sale because of old product. This is great news.

  6. EIB, Hello??!! Wake up!!!
    (Sorry, beeing a bit frustrated)

  7. Who cares who wants to invest, the more the better as far as I’m concerned! Just open the doors and let them in for God’s sake! Russians, Chinese who cares where they come from, let’s get Saab rolling along properely again.

They speak about the possibilty of being ready today, but also mentioned sth. about wednesday. But maybe Google-translation fools me :D

I don’t see where they mention wednesday, but Lars Carlström says “I am hopeful that we will be finished before the end of the day”. All the others just say that work is in progress.

    • The talk about wednesday must be about details that was not sorted out last week as I understand tis article.

  9. EIB needs to hurry!

Money has been transferred yesterday and should be in Saab’s accounts today says Carlström. So EIB gave their ok, or not? Not really mentioned in the article.
