What should the color be called?

A few weeks ago we posted a SaabsUnited Exclusive on a test color Saab is currently trying out. Now comes the big question, what name would you put on this color?

Nordic Blue or Swedish Blue.

I would say:Caribbean Blue. It reminds me of the blue Caribbean Sea. I guess I’m biased, since I’m from there originally. Well I have a ’92 Talladega Red, Saab 900, named after the Talladega Speedway in Alabama, USA.

Although I can understand a Suzuki driver for making such proposal, I don’t think Saab should use a tobacco brand .
Yes I know my proposal was an alcoholic beverage.
Khrisdk said on May 1, 2011
In my part of the world Rizla is not used exclusively for Tobacco.
The Non-Tobacco use might help on the alternative thinking though……

Wow! Some VERY nice color names… There should be an SU unofficial contest!

No offense, but I wouldn’t suggest any Swedish geography, as this type of namegiving is already in use by Ikea.
And I wouldn’t buy a “readthedrawingcarefullyandfixityourselfSaab”.

I think the colour should represent air more than water
I suggest ‘Mistral Blue’
Red J said on May 1, 2011
When I was young everyone in school wanted to have a Mistral bag.
Maybe they could made a Mistral special edition. French brands do it quite often,

Volvo do a Mistral Green-very light metalic grey/green
CraigSu said on May 1, 2011
I’m shocked that no one has suggested Jonsson Blue yet, in honor of Jan-Ake. Perhaps that is not enough of an honor for him, maybe he needs to have his own special edition car.
tmjr said on May 2, 2011
I suggested naming the color after the late Bob Sinclair, but that went over like a Blue lead balloon.
SAAB LANCE said on May 2, 2011
Absolutely a minor variation on a shade of Blue Saab has used at least three times in the past! How and why are we supposed to get excited about stuff like this?

China Blue (the historical blue color used to paint pottery)
Manlius said on May 3, 2011
Maybe Delft Blue, in honor of SAAB’s Dutch connection (but Delft is a bit darker, I think). I also like the Swedish Blue suggestions above–seems exactly right.
robertp said on May 3, 2011
Well, Delft’s blue is the colour they ‘invented’ in China. Holland was a ‘big’ trading country in the 17th century and they imported that color blue to their local ‘china’ porcelain which then sort of became a national Dutch color.

“Saabsunited Blue”
MacPeter said on May 4, 2011
What about “PLANET BLUE”?
…cause I like the environmental friendly strategy SAAB is pursuing and what is more blue than our planet earth?
Börjesson said on May 4, 2011
That is actually a very good suggestion!
