SAAB of the week – Jan
May 31, 2011 in Sotw
If I remember it right, then I think our dear inside saab writer Swade will love this next SOTW
A few weeks ago we got a mail from Jan in Seattle:
Hi folks
Yippie – my car has arrived in Seattle at our new dealership. This is
the first wagon/sportcombi they have received, a 9-3X.
Whats the best I can do for you guys at Saabsunited – send more pics, or
tell you that I traded in my MB E500 4matic wagon or that we own a
9-5 Aero wagon (2003) andare looking forwards to see the new 9-5 wagon or
that this is our Saab number 14….
Keep up the good work – its great reading and I guess the best I can do
is continue buying new Saabs.
I hope my new 9-3X will be a “promotion” vehicle in Seattle and attract
more buyers.Haelsninger
Jan
Now I know who to call if I sometime visits Seattle ![]()
I wish you all luck and have fun driving your Saab 9-3X!

Someone needs to make a raising kit for it as well as fill it in with some beefier tires. Will remind me of the Audi All Road Quattro except better

Why steering wheel left side?
maanders said on May 31, 2011
It is a United States car. (Seattle is in Washington state in the northwestern US.)

WOW, if this isn’t sneding the message “SAAB IS ALIVE” I don’t know what will. Way to go…

You might consider printing this on a huge sticker………
Jos said on May 31, 2011
Yeah, or on one of those text frames around the licence plate. Or on the front, not all states in the US requie a plate on the front, don’t know if seattle is in one of those.

Looks like mine.
Same color too. You will be very pleased with it, I assure You.
Only one small issue thou. But I believe the gas prices are better=lower in the US.
Are the rear light arrangement clear glas (plastic)? Not as in Sweden where its frosted.

I think the 9-3SC and especially the 9-3X are very good looking cars. They are practical, yet a driver’s car and the closest we have to a hot hatch at the moment. Jan, congrats to a great vehicle! I see you even managed to get the original Griffin logo on the rear door…
Hopefully you can drive it around crowded areas and attract some interest…

Very OT, but can anyone give me advice where to look for a nice original OG SAAB 900 Aero or Turbo in Sweden? If you look at Blocket (the largest used car site) there is very seldom you see any good 900s anymore.
Edonis said on May 31, 2011
Have you checked Saab Turbo Club Sweden? http://www.saabturboclub.com/
Carmania said on May 31, 2011
Thanks! However I browsed through the listings and there where not many OG 900 Aero/Turbos. Just a couple of years ago you could find many nice ones for really low prices. I guess that if you can get your hands on one it will be a great investment!
By the way – someone should buy this one:

Just 53640 kilometers!

Come to England- Ten a penny over here I have 3 of them!! Shame you will have to drive on the wrong side of the car though…
Carmania said on May 31, 2011
I saw an episode of “Wheeler Dealers” when they fixed up a 900 Turbo, seemed like a quite poplar model when they sold it (?).
I actually seriously considered “driving on the wrong side” since you so cheap older cars. They almost give them away on Ebay. I guess it has something to do with taxes and the cost of maintaining it.

I thought the E500 was a spectacular car when is was released and probably an awesome car in many aspects. But you did the right thing
Good choice Jan, I like the 9-3x a lot and it fits perfectly in red.
Toby K said on May 31, 2011
That is a very nice sporty and fun car. I used to really dislike the 9-3 SC but its gradually coming into its own and that one you have there actually looks quite pretty-good choice Sir!
As it happens I am on my 13th Saab and will stick with them for as long as they make cars-I drive other stuff but always come back to Saab-they are just understated, and such fun to drive..

I have a 2010 93X in Glacier Silver, it has a Hirsch upgraded engine (240bhp). It’s a great car, not many of them around in the UK, I have only seen three to date and one of them was the one I own!

Are the rear light arrangement not frosted as in Sweden? but of a more see thru kind? Due to US regulations?

Hello! Anybody there?
tupolev141 said on May 31, 2011
Just like the current 9-5, the 9-3 SC has different taillights in the US.
In this post, http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175228 , reply #11 you will find pictures of the differences
