Site statistics for May
May 31, 2011 in Uncategorized
Well, the month of May is coming to an end, and it was a month of turbulence and just as RedJ wrote yesterday, bad news creates interest and that we certainly have seen here at SaabsUnited. We have tried to report on news we thought were significant. We have ignored a huge amount of stories but also reported on many others. Some people felt that at times we were being a bit too negative in our reporting but to give my honest opinion on the matter I think we were reporting things that people needed to know. Of course sometimes we were also wrong…
We have been absolutely bombarded with e-mails, I know that I promised everyone that we would answer every e-mail when I took over the site from Swade, but during this time that would have been a full time job. The events at Saab forced the crew to adapt very quickly and without any training what so ever to start making assessments of situations, rumors, lies, true stories that were leaked etc and it has been anything but easy, but we learned a lot, we learned who to trust, who to call our friends and who might have a hidden agenda.
I would like to thank some of all people for being a huge direct support to us: Christ Johnston (CJ), Lars Carlström, Victor Muller, Vladimir Antonov, Gunilla Gustavs, Margareta Högström, Magnus Hansson, Joachim Lind and of course all you readers who have provided us with lots of tips on stories we’ve missed and also given us feedback on how to work in a good way! Thank you! =)
I’m not saying that the storm is over, but it certainly looks like Saab has clear horizons, ahead! =)
Talking about what the headline states, the site has had its 3rd month of an increasing amount of visitors, last month we had an all time high of 764’907 visitors. This month, with 6 more hours to go (server time) we have logged a total of 781’604 visitors. The absolute peak was on the 20th week of this year when we logged 214’625 visitors during a 7 day period, thats 1278 visitors per hour or 21 visitors per minute!. Considering that about 90% of our traffic occurs from 6 AM to 2 AM Central European time, the server was working very hard at times. The server was constantly monitored by PeterS who did a great job of keeping it up and running smoothly. It actually crashed once or twice due to the extreme amount of visitors.
Of course I can be nothing but happy about

The Saab Museum is a great project.
Now that production is ramping up, how about another video? Made me feel so connected to see the cars being assembled.
Kudos to SU and Griffen up!

np. I was going to let it slide, but I noticed it wasn’t just spell check since it was twice in the article: “I would like to thank some of all people for being a hugh direct support to us”
Keep up the great work!

It is great that SU has had so many hits – well done to all the contributors!
The new digital project sounds good HOWEVER in my opinion the saabmuseum.com url is particularly unhelpful to anyone trying to connect with the real Saab museum because it has absolutely nothing to do with it…..

I think in the future people will understand more the distinctive difference between the real museum and “our”… =)

Great point. Thanks to the long Memorial Day US (good weather) weekend, my 9-3 SC was finally afforded the attention to have interior, body and wheels all cleaned at the same time along with some partial waxing. What a pleasure to look at before the next thunderstorm.
Thanks for the reminder, Tim.

I curbed my passenger side front alloy rim yesterday. It is so ugly to look at I could just cry!

Sandpaper,polishing compound, clearcoat.
Or just leave it so you don’t have to worry about it happening again.
The first scratch on your new car is always the worst. Make it yourself, it is quite liberating.
A friend of mine always bought used cars with a bit of rust in visual places so he didn’t had to worry about detailing his car.
But, yeah, damaging your nice alloys sucks. I never curb park for that reason, I’m a lousy parallel parker. Unfortunately I managed to hit the curb at a toll boot a couple of months ago, those curbs are about as high as your wheel. Sucks. Still have to repolish.

zippy, are your rims the painted ones or chrome? The painted ones, I use a company called Alloy Wheel Repair and the are very reasonable. 604-889-0032

Congratulations to everyone at SU for your continued success and growth. We know you all work incredibly hard to keep us up to date on the latest events, and we appreciate it greatly!

I love the idea with saabmuseum.com, a dream would be if at least the best models of all years could end up there!
OT the 3rd part of the Saab documentary at tv4 is now availible (sadly only for swedes I guess). A really nice episode about the first turbo, the first cab and also a visit at Gillbergs garage where he shows a model of the ur-saab. Only that he cut the bonnet up and fitted a two-stroke engine, perhaps half the size of a match-box, and it runs. And it sounds exactly like a real 3 cyl 2 stroker!
