Feelings among employees
June 23, 2011 in News
I have talked to a number of employees at Saab, both engineers and people in the assembly. Everyone is sad, some confident in a solution, some are hoping but very few have actually lost hope. Some angry reactions have surfaced in the media but I think they needed to call a lot of people in order to get one angry voice!
Now people are mostly thinking about how to handle the situation, to save up money or perhaps even sell items so that they can put food on the table. The City of Trollhättan has announced that nobody will starve… they have a place open a few hours every day where people can get food and basic needs if it should come to that! The city is in the end according to law the one responsible for its inhabitants.
At 13:30 Maud Olofsson will hold a press-conference in Stockholm, to be very honest I don’t expect much from that other than the usual talk that we have heard before, that they are taking measures for re-training or workers etc… Would be nice though if she would prove me wrong for once but I don’t have much faith in that woman!
I still place all of my faith in the people at SAAB, they are the miracle workers, they have proved it over and over again…

First post here, but not the last, saab will survive!!!
The pressconferance is not about SAAB.

True, she had an article in one of the Swedish papers this morning, about the energy market in Sweden and how to strengthen the consumers’ position.
But you can bet that some journalists will ask her about Saab.

I repeat what I wrote in another post … why paying to keep people off work, re-training, etc? Why not helping the company to keep going ….?

Who knows if it will keep going or if the money will end up in a black hole? The swedish economy is rather strong at the moment so the gov. may think that most people will get a new job rather quickly. And Volvo, withing commuting distance, are hiring – both within building and development

Let’s all together and especially for the people in Sweden give a big thumb (up) and hope for the best for everyone!

What about raising a fund from SU community offerings? For the unassuming it could be like ten bucks, but maybe some of the better-offs could offer possibly more. This could bring up to a sum not very determinant but could mean a lot for the workers, at least a very strong mental support.
At least we can’t loose too much, do we, but can set off a series of things that eventually turn into a reasonable success. If anyone liking the idea is ready to make a move with organizing such an action (eg.set up a Paypal account for the fund and prepare the due hype) I’d be happy to donate.
I think SU editorial is more than credible enough for us to supervise these collections – If they are happy with it too?

My thoughts are with Saab’s employees & the good folks in Trollhattan. I pray for a quick and successful outcome for everyone.
