June 21, 2011 in News

Many of you may have already read about this, but for the the others may be of interest.

The British car magazine What Car? has asked its readers to review the 9-5 SportsWagon.

The reviews shown in the video are all positive, but the most interesting is what car those reviewers drive.

Mixed feelings and reactions

June 21, 2011 in Editorial

Talk about a surprise today when I checked my e-mail in Mallorca while sitting in the flightdeck during a turn-around Gothenburg flight. 114 E-mails… gotta watch those roaming fees a bit more carefully in the future! =)

In total I received 144 e-mails up to now regarding yesterdays post about the telephone conference and I have read every one of them! What can I say, an extreme amount of mixed feelings, some very positive, some very negative towards the current situation. Everyone who knows me personally knows that my feelings have been a roller-coster, during the past weeks, but mostly on the positive side. Right now I’m feeling more positive than ever about the situation even though the situation is probably more serious than ever… why?

  1. Saab has a plan, I have taken part of it, with most of the details, which the other media has not!
  2. Saab has the best products ever and have a great future ahead of them if they get by some big hurdles!
  3. People at Saab are staying. Volvo and other companies are recruiting a lot, but very few have left the company!
  4. Saab is a team, it always has been. It’s not a one man show and that team is built up by great people who have been through hell, more than once, and they are still staying around. Guys like Magnus Hansson, Knut Simonsson, Victor Muller, Kjell ac Bergström, Gunnar Brunius, Eric & Kristina Geers, Mats Fägerhag, Anders Svensson, Gunilla Gustavs, Margaretha Högström and many, many more. I have met most of them, not all, but I also know a lot of people at Saab who are never ever going to be mentioned in the media, and they are never ever going to get credit for any of the work they do, but they do an amazing job!
  5. Last but definitely the most important: Every morning when I drive my car to work I smile. I have 3 Saab’s now, the oldest is 10 yeas old, the youngest 1,5 years old and they all feel great! To me, Saab is about one thing! Driver experience!

Telephone conference with US-Suppliers

June 20, 2011 in News

I was allowed to listen in to a telephone conference between the US suppliers and Victor Muller tonight. What I can say is that they have a course of action and to me, it sounds extremely positive.

I also learned that there might be some very important news regarding the short-term funding very soon!

Victor made note of a previously announced fact that has been underreported – that Youngman has been preselected to make a deal with Saab by the NDRC. This makes the process of gaining the necessary approvals considerably easier.

The repayment plan is generous and flexible for suppliers, and while I can’t reveal specifics, it gives them a concrete idea of when to expect full payment for receivables, plus overdue interest.

Rescheduled for 4th of July *UPDATED

June 20, 2011 in News

I have just talked with Gunilla Gustavs to verify the data being published on other media sites and no definite date for a production restart that has been set, but it is earliest on the 4th of July as stated in other media. This is the information that has gone out to the employees at this time.

Pang Da liked the 9-4x very much and they see a very high potential for that car, a number of the ordered cars from Pang Da are 9-4x and they are being produced and deliveries are being performed according to schedule.

The work continues with the sale of the Saab facilities continues and may still take some time before completion.

Many people have asked us, what can we do? And right now there is not a lot we can do, except one thing! We can, if we like go out and buy additional or spare original parts for our cars, this will generate money directly for Saab and help them out. It might not be much but it is, at least, something!

June 19, 2011 in News

Some new 9-5′s from 2010 and 2011 have started to show up on the used cars market. ANA the biggest retailer in Sweden has a couple of 2010′s with a few thousand km’s on the meter and a big bunch of brand new 2011′s with 0 km’s on the meter that they are now selling out for a very good price! The reason for the sale is to make room for the new 2012 models that are on the way in. One used car in particular that caught my attention was this one:

Saab 9-5 gives you a sense of belonging to a community

June 19, 2011 in Saabology

Saab may be a good kept secret in the automotive industry, but good (and positive) articles about Saab seem also to be kept in secret.

Cover4fleet insurance is a British fleet insurance broker, and a couple of days ago they wrote a positive article on the Saab 9-5 Vector SE 2.0 TiD, which is very good news for Saab as the fleet market is important.

The article begins with a fact we already knew.

While driving the Saab 9-5 Vector in the past months I have come to realise that it is not just a car, but also gives you a sense of belonging to a community.
