All the Saab workers are to return to work in the beginning of next week. However it is still unclear wether or not the production will be started up. Early rumors say that there might not be any production at all until after midsummer which is on friday, however this is nothing that we can confirm at the moment.

A smaller Saab, might not be a good idea…

June 17, 2011 in Editorial

At least not for the US market. There has been a lot of talk about a smaller version of a Saab. Lots of people seem to want it but what is the real value for Saab? Considering that Volvo has a full range of cars from the small C30 up to the huge XC90 one would think that they are able to sell a car to anyone everywhere. Well it doesn’t look that way. According to this mornings editorial contributions, Volvo’s S40 and V50 series are selling so poorly in the US that Volvo has decided to stop the sales of these cars in the US market completely. With the V50 being equal to the 9-3 SportsCombi in size, I find it pretty amazing that Saab manages to sell a product in this category and Volvo does not. Having tried the V50 and found it to be an excellent car, not as good as a 9-3, but still a very good car this is pretty staggering news to me…

News on the production stop

June 17, 2011 in News

Semcon’s CEO, Mr. Kjell Nilsson, seems quite optimistic on SAAB, and yesterday he made this declaration to ttela.se

- I think we have a [more]clear picture of how the [real estate] transaction looks like on Monday, and then a production start again after midsummer. It will be tough two or three months but then I think the deal with the Chinese will be ready and then it will be solved.

The Zero Hero snippets

June 16, 2011 in News

Saab UK had PR campaign were they called the 119g 9-3 TTiD 180 the Zero Hero because the Vehicle Excise Duty (the vehicle taxes) was equal to zero because of the low CO2 value.

Today Saab UK has presented the new Zero Hero, the Saab 9-5 TiD4 MY 12, with manual transmission. It will also, like the 9-3 TTiD, be exempted of VED because of the low CO2 figures, 125 for the Saloon and 128 g/km for the SportWagon.

Victor cancels speech

June 15, 2011 in Uncategorized

According to GT.se (original article here) Victor Muller was supposed to have held a speech at an event where a majority of the Swedish Auto industry is gathered but Victor has chosen to cancel the speech. The reason being that he is busy with other things…

Comment: I do not blame him! I understand fully that he has more important things to do and considering who the media has treated Saab and the people at Saab during the past months it would only be a media storm of questions going after him rather than focusing on what he actually talked about!
