ANA leading the way

Every year the city of Trollhättan hosts a festival called “Fallens Dagar” loosly translated to “The Days of the Waterfalls“, in honor of the work that went into building the great locks and huge water powerplants located in Trollhättan.
At this event a running competition is held. This year the lead car is very special. At 1600, 9-4x number 1 will lead the runners around the course.

Digging into Maud’s claims (for future reference)

First of all, the following is intended to again draw attention to the Swedish government’s lack of commitment to the Swedish automobile industry. I am not necessarily advocating spending the taxpayers’ money, although that would certainly be in everyone’s best interest. I am however reminding people that the government are still dragging their feet when asked to approve Antonov as a major shareholder of Saab. It seems as if the government are pushing EIB to not approve Antonov so the public won’t realize the government are actively trying to bury the automobile industry.
In any case: I find it both interesting as well as annoying the way politicians twist and turn around the issues at hand.
An excellent example is Maud Olofsson’s infamous letter to Mr Antonov.

Amusement Park visit for free

The amusement park “Skara Sommarland” about 2 hours drive from Trollhättan offers all Saab employees free entry during the period 14th – 24th of July.
To TTELA reports that in a press-statement Johan Hedihn writes that they want to give the employees at Saab the possibility to have a happy day of swimming, amusement and go-cart at their facilities.
The park has signed an agreement with Saab Automobile, Saab Powertrain and Saab Parts. This year, the park has invested 20 million SEK into new attractions.

The name Aero X

How did the Aero X actually get it’s name? Well the concept car was built and ready for show, but it did not have a good name yet, so Knut Simonsson, Vice President Brand & Marketing called out to a number of friends with a competition. Name the car and I’ll buy you lunch.
Joachim Lind who is CEO of ANA was part of the team to name the car…
- The first thing I thought, what is the most powerful name that Saab has, well its Aero and the thoughts started going through my mind: Aero Turbo… Aero Turbo X… Aero X… that’s it. Aero X thats what it should have been called! And so it became the name of the car!
Joachim is a close friend of Knut so they have lunch every now and then, unfortunately Joachim was away on a business trip and never got a chance to have lunch with Knut. Instead Knut promised him a backpack for his fine efforts, and guess what was hanging on a chair in his office when he got back! =)

SaabsUnited is a very large website, with a huge amount of visitors and as we feel it a very unique idea and cool idea behind it. The website has evolved with Swade running it for several years, I know he had some very tough times and those times have reached us as well. Several times during the past months we, as a crew, have been faced with some very tough decisions. Do we publish things we know, do we leak it to someone else, do we just keep our mouth shut until someone else picks up the story. Almost every time we have chosen the last option, we keep the information to ourselves. 9-4x Arrives

ROYAL OAK, Mich., July 13, 2011 — Saab’s all-new 9-4X crossover has landed in US dealer showrooms. The greatly anticipated vehicle is Saab’s newest addition to the Saab product family.
“Our first vehicles are just hitting retailers and our first customer sale took place last weekend at Saab North Olmstead in Cleveland, Ohio,” said Tim Colbeck, President and COO SCNA. “This is an exciting product, with a true Saab crossover that gives us entry into a new segment.”

Antonov in question

There is a lot of talk in the Swedish media today that criticism from the Lithuanian central bank regarding how Snoras bank has handled its credits should be the reason why the EIB would not let Vladimir Antonov become a part-owner in Saab.
Personally I think its just base-less speculation made by a reporter at Dagens Eko that is now spreading around like wild-fire in the Swedish media and I will not waste more of my time on it than this!
