SaabsUnited’s Call For Creative Professionals

I’ve hinted at it for weeks now, and we’re nearly ready to make our official announcement about the SaabsUnited Media Campaign Contest. While I can’t reveal too much just yet, I can tell you that it should go a long way toward giving us something constructive to focus our attention on rather than the day to day struggles Saab is digging out from under. If you believe that Saab has a future and you want to contribute to it, then you’re going to want to be a part of this event.
This first teaser post is more a request on our part. We’ve already signed up several dealer heads and creative professionals to be expert panelists and judges, but we’d like to extend the invitation now to the broader community. If you work in creative fields, and you’re interested in donating your time (and having a lot of fun while participating) to help mold SaabsUnited’s ideas into a cohesive package, we’d like to hear from you. We’re looking for experts in the following areas:

  • Creative/Advertising
  • Video Production
  • Graphic Artists
  • Internet Consultants
  • Dealer Leaders

We’re especially looking for those SU guests who come here to read a lot but don’t necessarily comment or haven’t signed up for a username. This is your chance to show your concrete support for Saab, and lend your expertise to create the most polished final product possible. The work is more in consulting and facilitation than content production, though any assistance provided is greatly appreciated. Shoot us an email at [email protected] with the subject: SU Media Campaign Contest, and include a brief description of what you do and what you feel are the best assets you bring to help mold our own vision of what makes Saab great some time in the next week. If you have any questions or are on the fence about participating, please reach out anyway, we can talk in greater detail through email.

For those of you who don’t fall into those categories, don’t worry- this entire event is designed to get as much fan participation as possible. There will of course be prizes, but most of all our goal here is to aim or focus back at what makes Saab great, and remind us why we know the company will make it through this time. Think of this as a convoy with a really cool end result that everyone gets to contribute to. Get excited, people- this is going to be fun :).

Excellent idea. Maybe we can create a type of social media generated viral campaign which addresses everything we love about the brand and help re-build confidence in the market. I am myself a UK based video producer / director so I will write in.

Swade, As it happens, I’m a film student looking to break into the advertisement business. As such, I decided to combine that with my passion for Saabs and am in preproduction on a few spec (as in ‘speculative’ – as in paid for on my own dime) commercials for the brand. I’ve already talked to my local dealer and they’ve been very supportive in agreeing to let me use their facility for filming, but I could still use a little help. It was very early here in my part of the states when I wrote the above; I thought I was on Swade’s new site. Still, if anyone in the Trollhattan area has video clips of the things I mentioned, that’d be great.

Let’s all talk about message, shall we? What does Saab need to get out there in the minds of it’s potential customers? I’d propose that first and foremost is the message “Hey, we’re still here, and our cars are better than they’ve ever been!” – or something like that. Thoughts?

Love to assist here…. I am a beliver that assuming the bigger hurdles are overcome for Saab, we can collectively restart the brand from scratch. I think we need to restart the brand as if it never exsisted. Many of my opinions have been posted here…..I still stand by all of them on price, placement & product, If this company has any chance here in the States, we need to revamp the entire past from the current into the future…. and that my friends means throwing away the current and starting from a base thats exemplifies the brand and its… Read more »

I would definitely love to participate as well.

My field of expertise is actually in software engineering, but I would definitely like to contribute ideas for a media campaign (in fact, there was a comment thread awhile back where I was tossing some ideas back and forth with some other folks for a future SAAB commercial).

I’ve actually dabbled in video-editing and recording before, so if we wanted to release some videos on YouTube; that is something I could help or assist with. Finally, I enjoy writing too, just in case that as needed.
