AUX for Saabs….

One again a video interview with the SUHRT one-shoot only policy, never ever a retake….

Today on my drive to some sellers of old 99 stuff for the team efforts I also stopped by the local Stockholm dealer for the swedish bran Brodit in the US ProClip. I needed a new model specific holder for the Turbo X so I can have the iPad2 obscuring about 86% of my windscreen vision :-). The guys where really kind and one of them said hey wait I will show You something it turned out that he had been responsible at Saab for 17 years for audio stuff. He had made a great connector the makes it possible to listen to music etc from phone, mp3 or computer.

The unit communicates via the cars CAN-bus system and activates the possibility to send in sound through the car stereo CD changer connect.. Via a “plug&play” set of cables the unit is connected to the sound system. The AUX connector is pre mounted in a Saab Original “blind-button” giving that original Saab feeling.

I managed to negotiate a SU special price on the sets.Β mention SaabsUnited and get a 10% rebate.

Nice video. But i wonder if this is a “fake” – i’m joking. No visible pixel loses in the SID πŸ˜€ This remebers me to take the SID out for a repair.
Does it show also special german or scandinavien characters of ID3 tags?

I tested it with cyrillic and it doesnt work. i think it’s only ASCII charset πŸ™

I got new SID when i bought this car. Now (after 3-4 years) pixels are slowly disappearing :)))

Better to get an FM-transmitter. I got one for my iphone. I can charge the phone at the same time. It also have a 3.5 connection and a USB.

Hello,
I am trying to decide what set up I should use so I can use my iphone in my 08 9-5 with nav and 6 cd changer. I was looking at the CD Connect, but now wondering if that is the best choice any help or advice is appreciated. Also found this has a possible choice. AUDIOVOX FMM100A FM MODULATOR. Thanks!

Very nice. I looked at the installation instructions at the web site and it looks like it connects in to the wiring harness behind the radio in the dash, which seems easy enough. Since I do not read Swedish, does anyone know if using this product still allows you to use the 6-disk CD changer in the hatch when something is not plugged into the AUX port that this adds to the center console? I would hope it would, as it would make sense that when something is plugged in, like an iPod, then that device would appear to be… Read more »

There is an alternate way to connect a phone on a pre-2006 AS2/AS3 stereo. The phone input can be modified to accept stereo input, as I have done. If the intention is to get a phone interface I would say this is the way: http://saab9-5as2.norstedt.net/

But this only handle the sound, the SID will only display that the phone input is used.

I got this kit from the now-out-of-business Elkparts in the UK. While relatively expensive, it was simple to install by myself and works great. I highly recommend it.

Anyone one know where I can get a CD Connect or similar device so that I can plug in my Iphone? I’ve used those fm transmitters you plug into your lighter, but have not had good success with those. Thanks for any advice or help.
