Prices seem somewhat reasonable at least for the parts.
mike saunders said on August 31, 2011
You’re joking, right?
kanundrum said on August 31, 2011
No.
$535 for The Steering Wheel
$625 for the Dash
$162 for the Sills
Not bad, Cheaper then BMW branded Items. http://www.shopbmwusa.com/
kanundrum said on August 31, 2011
Heck even Scion Charges $110 for your Door Sill and that’s probably not as good quality materials.
mike saunders said on August 31, 2011
: )
Look at the difference between the BMW performance wheel and the Hirsch wheel. The BMW wheel is covered with Alcantara along the entire grip surface, while the Hirsch wheel just has the same perforated leather as on the OEM wheel.
The higher priced BMW sills are lighted, and the non-lighted M strip is $79. A relative bargain….
And the dash? BMW used carbon fiber, not carbon-textured plastic and leather.
kanundrum said on August 31, 2011
Their wheel is $200 more for the alcantara.
The sills look like they belong in a civic compared to the classy look of the hirsch ones
Dash did you see that price? lol.
I am saying they are relatively matched for the market. Its not a bargain and your not bending over either.
kanundrum said on August 31, 2011
Also its Carbon Leather which is probably just as complicated in making as carbon fiber and won’t have that fading effect in the sun.
Red J said on August 31, 2011
Mike,
Hirsch uses another type of leather for the wheel, and not the standard.
The dash is also made in leather, or leather with carbon fibre texture and no plastic.

With the exception of Boston, Cincinnati and Houston, most locations are in relatively rural areas and not very urban. I mean, not even a single location in the entire state of Florida.
mike saunders said on August 31, 2011
Concord, NH, Portland, OR, and Troy, Mi are far from rural.
Sorry, but Florida is a Saab wasteland. (I lived there for 12 years, driving a C900 for most of them.)
I see more Saabs on 1/2 of my daily commute than I do during an entire week of driving through South Florida on vacation.
maanders said on August 31, 2011
While you might not recognize Cary, NC (Hendrick Cadillac-Saab-Spyker), it is a 140,000 population suburb of Raleigh, NC. The whole metro area around Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill is over 1 million people. That is fairly urban.
Quijote said on August 31, 2011
While I do recognize South Florida is Saab waste land, that’s Saab’s fault for failing to recognize that its a very attractive market. Just like 60% of all vehicles purchases in Texas are pickups, I can tell you that South Florida skews heavily towards premium/luxury cars, although most can’t afford them. Lexus’ and BMW’s #1 dealership in the entire United States are located in South Florida. That’s a fact.
mike saunders said on August 31, 2011
Only we sad Saab owners believe Saab ist competing with BMW and Lexus. It’s not.
It’s competing — poorly — with VW, Hyundai, and Nissan…and might hope to win some Acura folks.
Khrisdk said on August 31, 2011
I would say that depends on your location in the world.
Quixcube said on August 31, 2011
Hyundai buyers don’t shop Saab. They are after value. Saab is a lot of thins to a lot of people, bit they aren’t shopped as a value brand. Parts and labor are way too high for that. I think VW is correct. Subaru too. Mostly, Saab isn’t shopped at all anymore. When they relaunch they will have to identify a target market and teach people who they should be shopped against. I hope they don’t aim for BMW/Merc/Audi because those guys are a rough group to play with. Stand before you walk, walk before you run and all that.
WM said on August 31, 2011
Corte Madera is just north of San Francisco. Far, far from “rural”.

Adding to the thought that there isn’t one in Florida…
I don’t think new Saabs are available in every state. Boise, Idaho is a very “Saab” area, but I think you have to leave the state to buy one new. There are plenty of old 900s, 9000s, 9-3s and 9-5s milling around and a super mechanic that gets a LOT of Saab business (not because they break down, haha). The two big brands there are Hyundai and Subaru. It seems like Saab would make a killing there. It snows during the winter and is incredibly hot during the summer. Saab could probably sell some diesel there as well.
So I completely agree there are plenty of places in the US where Saab would flourish. In time, hopefully…

Its to bad Hirsch US is not offering upgrades for Turbo X
Quixcube said on August 31, 2011
The Morrow location in Georgia is an easy drive from Atlanta. Very urban area (for Georgia).
Quixcube said on August 31, 2011
And until about 4 months ago, this dealership still had a new Turbo X sedan for sale. Always nice to see it there. I don’t know what finally happened to it.

Woohoo!! … there’s one in California not too far from me as well
dcpattie said on August 31, 2011
The prices listed on the website aren’t necessarily the final price your dealer is charging. I spoke with the service dept. chief at International Saab. He said for the Hirsch tune (2010 NG 9-5 2.8T) $1500 + $129 for installation. Once you add in taxes, we are looking at ~ $1700 for 30HP…NO THANKS! I asked if my Saab North American membership would get me 10% off…Answer – NO.
Jake said on August 31, 2011
Do you realize what 30 hp is? 10 hp is a pretty big boost in itself. It’s all relative. The 3-series, for instance gets an extra 70 HP in the hot 335 versus the standard 328. This comes at $8,000 more. So, if you were to pay for a 30 hp for a 328 at BMW prices, it’d be roughly $3428 more. Hirsch is a bargain.
Red J said on August 31, 2011
With the 5-series is $5,000 to move from the 528i (240hp) to the 535i (300hp).
Which means that 30 extra HP cost you $2,500.
Yes, Saab and Hirsch are very expensive.
kanundrum said on August 31, 2011
$1700 for WARRANTIED 30hp = Bargain.
When Scion had their TRD supercharger out for its tC it was $2000 to 3000 + installation which was usually $900 for 30hp as well.
Warrantied more boost is always more. your paying for peach of mind.

Peace* haha

Will the US get the free 10 day trial that is on their website for the engine software upgrade? If so, I would definitely like to try it and see if it is worth it.
