We like to give everyone the latest news here. Sometimes (a lot of times) we’ll hear whispers that we can’t possibly report on, because they’re likely to harm Saab’s deal making in some way or form. But tonight, we have a very weird and unorthodox story that’s breaking. Read the rest of this entry →

Today, three new job postings, at Saab, were published on the Swedish job board Arbetsförmedlingen.
All three have a submission deadline of September 16, 2011. Given the short-term nature of these job openings, it seems highly likely that they are related to the ongoing planning/discussions that are currently taking place.

A few weeks ago I posted that the first bunch of Hirsch parts was on a ship to the USA. Now I’m glad to report that they have arrived and the first parts have already been installed to customer’s cars.

Tv4 News published information last night about board compensations of Swedish Automobile. What they claimed was an increase in pay by 633% which was issued in May, when Saab’s troubles were widely known. The intention of this news piece was only to damage Saab, Victor Muller and the board of Swedish Automobile as much as possible by portraying them as greedy “bastards”…
Well, they did their job, now I’m gonna do mine:
1. By acquiring Saab, Spyker became almost 100 times bigger. With that follows responsibilities of the board members.
2. To be able to keep competent people on the board a company needs to pay them a certain amount when the company is at a certain size, this is very well known in the cases of Ericsson and Vattenfall in Sweden where even the swedish government has allowed compensations that were through the roof in the eyes of most people in order to be able to keep people and competence within the company. So now news there…
3. The compensations were raised retro-actively because of Spyker acquiring Saab on Feb 23, 2010 so the board had not been payed with the “right” amount when the job was actually done.
4. The board fees are paid by Spyker NV (Swedish Automobile NV) and NOT by SAAB…
The fact is that the compensation for the board members is low as compared to similar sized Dutch listed companies.
Regarding the news that everyone in the board of Swedish Automobile had actually left except for Hans Hugenholtz is not true, see below for a composition of the board and supervisory board except for D. Go (Hans) which has been replaced by Rob Schüit:

I’ve moved this to the front page because we’re only one week away from the 2011 SOC! If you’re attending, feel free to leave a comment! I’ll be there and hope to meet as many SU readers as possible. Most importantly, I’m excited to see some great Saabs!

Coming this August is the 29th Annual SOC 2011, taking place in Parsippany, NJ.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the convertible, there will be a special tribute to Bob Sinclair (and apparently a 1986 example of one in the lobby of the Hilton!). If you’re on the east coast, you won’t want to miss it.
You can follow them on facebook,

To say Saab has taken a severe beating in the last few months is a gross understatement. Many consumers already think the brand was killed years ago. But sometimes when problems seem insurmountable, when everyone else gives up hope and turns their back and moves on, something incredible happens. Many of you know I love the sports analogies here, and I’m pulling out an old but classic one here again that has a personal connection.

Tonight, our Saab club, South West Saab went fishing, well we went but the chat and food was far more exciting than the zero fish caught.
But,,,, three of the club members turned up in 9-5 Estates and here are a couple of pictures of the three faces and rears of the OG 9-5.
Changes are slight but the three 9-5′s are so different.

I have just had a talk with Eric Geers about the actions of the enforcement agency. I’m taking a clear stance in the matter. SaabsUnited will not act like the other media and try to dig desperately after information, we’re not going to speculate on what will happen but only report them as they actually happen.
Right now Saab is not commenting on the matter except that it is a private matter between Saab and the Enforcement agency and they beg to leave it at that! They of course have an open discussion with the enforcement agency and will continue to do so and he assures us that they are working VERY hard to find a solution which we at SaabsUnited have full confidence in that they will!

TTELA (original article here):
The suppliers are getting a full insight into Saabs situation and nobody is getting payed before others. Thats the message when Victor Muller had a meeting with FKG and Clepa.
Any solution to Saabs problems have not yet been completed. But the supplier-organizations at least gets a fresh update of the situation. Read the rest of this entry →
