When you have been one time in a motor show during the press days, you will never want to miss it again. It is not that it is only fun and lingonberry juice, but as this is more my hobby than a job, I enjoy every second I can be nearby a Saab car.
This said you can now imagine that I started planning my IAA visit on the trip home from the Geneva motor show.

The SaabsUnited cars is continuing, this car belongs to Hans in Sweden:
This car is a 2003 model. It is my third Saab and I bought it 2008 when the second hand car
market was at its lowest point in Sweden during the financial cries. I had longing to own this Saab model since it was introduced.
It was worth waiting for. It is 100% original and I will try to keep it that way. The only thing
I have applied is a safety seat for my kid and at throttle override, my wife. She don´t appreciate the 185 horsepower as much as I do when I am driving.

From Swade at inside.saab.com : Another week of work has begun here at Saab. Another week to be patient whilst the deals that are in the pipeline are worked out and negotiated. It’s certainly not an easy time for people here. They are anxious, for sure, but they’re still here; that’s the most important thing.
We remain in somewhat of a holding pattern at the moment. We’re waiting for The Deal. While we’re waiting for The Deal, employees are returning from their customary summer vacations, arriving at work and going about whatever business they can. The carpark here at Saab was more full this morning than at any time over the last five or so weeks, a sight that was a pleasure to see on this cool, rainy Monday.
The Deal that our executive team are currently working on is the one that will carry us through this near-term liquidity shortfall and into the future, so that we can re-start production and get back to being a car company again, which would be a nice relief from our present role as a corporate piñata. inside.saab.com: Saab has decided that the company will not be present at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Presence at the show requires resources that Saab are currently allocating towards the restart of production in Trollhattan. Whilst it would be desireable to be present at the show to help further Saab’s global presence, it is not considered an appropriate use of resources at this time.

Just as Swade writes on inside Saab I feel that this is the right way to go! Saab needs to focus every cent on getting the production started!

This morning a very nice e-mail was waiting for us in the inbox of the crew-account. It is from Per Eriksson, chairman of the board in the municipality of Bengtsfors:
I just wanted to send You some pictures and tell You a little about how the 9-3 ePower was on display at Dalsland canoemaraton+ during the last weekend. I am the chairman of the board here in the municipality of Bengtsfors and also a Saabenthusiast since i was a kid. Bengtsfors have been a partner in a study regarding electrical cars by Innovatum in Trollttan and we have a great interest in trying out how electrical cars could work for us. On saturday the 13:th around 700 people from 14 different countries challenged them selves by paddling 55 kilometers in canoe or kayak here in Bengtsfors. As we all know Saab is still producing cars, not exactly Saab, but GM is producing the 9-4x in Ramos Arizpe (Mex.) for Saab.
Many asked about a reassurement that the 9-4x is really being build. And know one of our readers has sent us the link to the August production table for the US, Canada and Mexico, and on this table you can find the 9-4x among all the other GM cars.
For the ones that don’t want to search
Saab 9-4X Last Week: 58 August 2011: 116 2011: 573
Looking at this I would say that the 9-4x is being produced at a 58 cars per week rate. It is a very small figure, for instance 1.781 SRX have been build in the last week, but at least it is a constant amount. We still have something like 20 weeks till years end, which means GM will build this year about 1.700 9-4x, if the rate is kept constant.

I don’t know if the currently build cars are MY 11 or MY 12. Although there is not much difference between both model years, MY 11 was exclusively for the US market where MY 12 is to be distributed world wide.
I from my side hope that those are MY 12, and that the pre-ordered 9-4x in Europe can be delivered in September (it takes a little time from Mexico till Europe)

Swedish Automobile Issues Subscription Notice Under GEM Facility
Trollhättan, Sweden: Swedish Automobile N.V. (Swan) announces today that it issued a subscription notice for 4 million shares under the current EUR 150 million equity facility between Swan and GEM Global Yield Fund Limited. The exact number of shares to be issued and the price thereof will depend on the pricing period which commences today.
Swan and Saab Automobile AB continue their discussions with parties to obtain further short-term funding to be able to restart and sustain production.

SU commentary: To me this is a plan B. It looks like Saab is taking measures to be able to pay the August wages, just in case plan A can’t be fulfilled fast enough.
This is my personal assumption and not a fact.

One again a video interview with the SUHRT one-shoot only policy, never ever a retake….
Today on my drive to some sellers of old 99 stuff for the team efforts I also stopped by the local Stockholm dealer for the swedish bran Brodit in the US ProClip. I needed a new model specific holder for the Turbo X so I can have the iPad2 obscuring about 86% of my windscreen vision . The guys where really kind and one of them said hey wait I will show You something it turned out that he had been responsible at Saab for 17 years for audio stuff. A test-track for future active auto safety systems shall be completed in 2014 in Sweden outside the city of Borås which lies about 1 hour east of Gothenburg.
Soon the future safety systems in cars may be tested in Sweden. Astazero, a daughter company to Sweden’s Technical Science Institute and Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg will build the test track which will be located in Hällered just outside Borås.
