Aftermarket Automatic gearboxes guaranteed
September 2, 2011 in News
PRESSRELEASE from STS AB:
No Saab-owner will ever have to worry about not being able to get a replacement automatic gear box if it should fail. STS AB based in Stenungsund on the Swedish west coast guarantees deliveries to Saab Parts for the use as spare-parts.
If a situation should occur that Saab Parts are unable to deliver the products, our own organization stands ready to deliver the spare parts directly to any dealership or maintenance facility.
- We have had Saab customers since the early 70′s and it feels important for us to support them considering the problematic situation they are faced with. Should the worst occur we feel a great responsibility towards all Saab-owners and will supply the products through our own sales organization as long as there is a demand for it, say Ola Stålebo, CEO of STS.

Thats good but also a bit scary since SAAB is not yet in bankrupcy. Hope this is not a sign what will come.

As far as I know Saab Parts will fall to SweGov in case of a bankruptcy as it works os collateral
The only way to make a profitable sale and get the money back to cover would be to sell Saab Parts as a working organization. Or rather the clever way.
This is good news, and I would very much like others to come out and make the same statements.
It will be good for their own businesses even in case of bankruptcy.
They have made the investments so it will bring some of the money back even in case of worst case scenario

Whilst welcome at one level, this is (a) somewhat opportunistic timing, and (b) rather misses the point that Saab Parts is a separate company which would not on its own – necessarily – fall into bankruptcy.
Taken at face value, however, it is a nice touch. Isn’t life complicated?

I guess STS is fed up with all negative reports in the news (especially di.se) and they want to express their support for a company that has made them to what they are today. STS are not as greedy as Holmgrens bil.

Agree on that.
It makes a statement that may change the average readers view of the situation regarding parts, and may put some a little more at rest.

Might be comforting to some I guess, but I’ve never owned a Saab with a slush-box.

I do. Since two weeks. 1993 9000CDE 2.3T. Lovely car!

If you’ve never driven an early-80s C900 Turbo with a 3-speed slushbox, seriously, you haven’t lived. The combination of wait-for-it….kickdown followed by wait-for-it….BOOST is just hilarious – excellent, if slightly adolescent – fun around town. Not terribly clever cross-country, however.
Actually I want another one, but I never see them for sale, at least not here in the UK.

Haha – nice comment – reminds me of a 99 I had. But the kickdown was no “wait for it” at all, though. On the other hand you had to put more oil into that car than petrol for some reason
But I really would like to have that car back… bright orange (!) as it was
