Hi everyone, just been to Svenska Bil the place where the Eastern convoy will start 12:00 AM friday. I talked to the manager and checked the coffee and rolls situation. They serve us that from 11:00. Krister and Micael from SUHRT will lead the convoy with our newest creation in the team our “Secret” 99 and the Publimmo Venere 99 Turbo replica of Swedish Rally 1981. I will unfortunately not be going in the convoy I leave for Trollhättan thursday night for should we say some “Early Friday morning business” near Trollhättan.
So there is a great chance that SUHRT surprise the Saab community again. Follow SU and You will be enlighten.
Drive safe to Trollhättan. But lets cause havoc there…. miles and miles of Saab enthusiasm. The Trolls will not mind!

ttela.se featured an article today stating that the money from Youngman for the Phoenix platform is already on the way and will most likely arrive at Saab’s accounts this week.
The even more interesting part of the article is that the Phoenix technology only seems to to be a collateral and is not sold right away – you can read it from the press release, but it’s said much clearer here:
Technology License Agreement, including a separate company established in Holland and who also received the Chinese authorities’ blessing, involves the use of Phoenix technology for next-generation Saab models as collateral to obtain funds from the future owner Youngman.
If Saab can not pay back the most respondents Skr 650 million to get Youngman access to the Phoenix technology, but not the exclusive ownership. But if Youngman is the owner and make an equity investment dissolve this contract up. The Chinese owner may then make a new negotiating for access to the Phoenix technology if you want to use it to their own production.

A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER WITH WINTER TYRES
Being Swedish, Saab knows a thing or two about winter driving, and because you can’t always trust the weather, you need to trust your tyres.
Tyres are the only part of a car in contact with the road surface, making it vital that they are suitable for the road conditions. With winter approaching, it’s the ideal time to be thinking about switching to a set of winter tyres.
Saab is offering alloy wheels and winter tyre packages from only £559 including VAT*. Customers interested in this package should contact their local Saab dealership for more information including fitting charges and tyre storage options.
David Leighton, Business Development Manager for Aftersales at Saab GB, comments: “The average temperature across the country between November and March is less than 7 degrees celsius.

Last week, I posted an introduction to Lars-Erik, my 2007 9-3 Arc SS. I even posted a video on YouTube showing Lars-Erik in action. But, what I failed to mention is that thousands of miles away, in the country of Switzerland, a set of beautifully crafted high-quality leather handles were being prepared for shipment to the USA, destined to be installed in my 9-3 SS. Hirsch sleeps and breathes Saab.
Their sole purpose is to provide wonderful enhancements to the Saab experience. Something that enthusiasts will deeply appreciate, each and every time they embark on a journey .
It is important not to think of Hirsch as somehow fixing deficiencies in our cars. But, think of it as pairing a fine cheese with an elegant wine (whether the car is the Cheese and the Hirsch add-ons are a wine, or visa versa, may depend on your perspective).
Last week, to much to my excitement, I received the Hirsch door handle set in the mail. This kit includes four door handles, one parking brake handle and a smart handle. All of which are crafted in high-quality leather. The picture to the left depicts my 9-3 after all of which have been installed. The trickiest part of the installation was the parking brake handle.

No this is not a competition between aircraft manufacturers but more a comparison of the features offered in an Airbus A321 and what Saab should offer in its coming models.
The reason why I chose the Airbus A321 is simple, thats the plane I fly when I go to work. I’m actually writing this at 34’000 ft (10’360 m) up in the air, and the thoughts that have been going through my mind are what could Saab do to make their cars much more inspired by aircraft.
Military aircraft are in a category of its own, they are not designed to do a job of transporting people, I know, I’ve worked with the JAS 39 Gripen and one should not compare a car with a fighter-jet, even though Saab loves to say that they have a heritage of fighter-jets in their blood. Well the aircraft that Saab actually sold most of was not a fighter, but the very successful Saab 340 and Saab 2000 medium range turbo-prop transport aircraft. They were extremely modern when they were launched in to the aircraft market, a bit expensive yes, but very efficient, good-working and safe!
Saab cars do carry some features from these aircraft that not a lot of people know about, but its right there, in every newish Saab. In aircraft this featured is called the inhibit function. What it basically does is inhibits the computers and warning systems from issuing warnings to the pilots when they don’t need to see them. Sounds stupid? Well not really…
Imagine a pilot taking off, he is “driving” the aircraft on the runway at almost 300 km/h, does he really need to know if the aircraft is running low on washer fluid?, yes we do actually have that as well! =)
The answer is pretty clear. No… What the system does is inhibit “non-essential” warnings at a time when complete focus of the driver is needed on something else. Saab has exactly the same system built into its cars. When for example overtaking or braking, the car inhibits all non-essential warnings from appearing until the car has entered into a more normal mode.
This I’m afraid is one of the actual few real-life functions that you can find that directly has the same application in a modern transport aircraft. The Airbus A321 I’m flying in right now has tons of features that I would love to have in a car and brace yourselves, this article is going to become BIG!

We had an email today that is really worth sharing. Now not being from Sweden myself, I know nothing of this dealer and would welcome them to send us a story about themselves, their staff and their commitment to the Saab brand. It’s great to hear from Swedish dealers that are standing behind the brand that for many years made them a lot of money. When things got tough not all of the dealers stood behind Saab and some have even been just as nasty as some of the Swedish media. Thank you to Bengt in Scania for sharing this story with us.
Hej!
Sorry about my Swenglish!
I took a little spin in my Sonett today to check brakes and other things after some time in the garage. I visited our local Saab and Opel dealer Hörby Bil & Traktor www.bilotraktor.com just to say hello and ask about how they are feeling about Saab and the future.
They normally just have open weekdays but today they had open house on a saturday and there have been a lot of customers, all looking for Saabs. There is also some Saab customer ordering the new 9-5 Combi. The Saab dealer was very enthusiastic about the future. He is looking forward to the start up at the factory and sent greetings to Trollhättan and the October Fest.
This small dealer in Hörby is well known for years in my part of Sweden, Scania. OK it´s small, no fancy buildings and so on but many Saab owners in Scania have their service done at the work shop.
All the best and see you at the October fest!
