First photo of the new 9-3

Here it is:
This photo was featured first in SVD.se apparently and you can see more of it at this article:

SVD Näringsliv gained access to a powerpoint presentation given to the EIB where Saabs businessplan from january 2011 was featured. It is not sure if the photo above is exactly like the next generation 9-3.
You’ll recall our earlier attempts to photoshop you an impression. Not too far off, eh?

And just because there was interest, and only as a preliminary celebratory study and nothing else, here it is in a few colors.
Keep in mind this is only a very rough sketch that has been hacked to death, the real deal will surely be much more satisfying.
Somebody asked for a yellow version, and it wasn’t me. (RedJ)
Interestingly, there’s a small Saab on a timeline graphic presented. Here it is blown up. I’m not taking too much stock in this one being anything close to reality.

Put on a Wing and you have a Saab Firebird.
With Aero setup you have a Saab Trans Am. Jippiii, I´m going to buy one.
Na na n, na na GM, we are going to take over your Pontiac cars.
Iiiii LOVE it

First glance yesterday and I immediately liked the shape and proportions. It just looked right and was an instant “yes.” First glance today, same thing. I didn’t have this at all (and still don’t) for the 9-5 in either of it’s forms. I hope the production version is very similar. I would love to have a proper yellow 9-3 hatch.

Phoenix architecture looks very similar to Audi A7 -Almost an identical copy-, No comment

A7 is what you end up with when you put together NG 9-3 (front) and a C70 couple (rear) with Audi lights.

Are you saying that Audi has copied Saab?
RS said on November 1, 2011
Well I’m sure they’ve been eyeing each other out for decades. Same thing goes on between THN and Göteborg. I’d say it’s more like ‘borrowing’ ideas
Just look at them.
The A4 got the rear lights extended after the NG 9-3 came out. Now suddenly everyone got chrome around the fog lights. Don’t know who started that trend.
Today Audi got the LED light thing going everyone is desperately avoiding to copy too much. Will be interesting to see what the JC 9-3 will have.

It could be the other way around, perhaps SAAB might be copying from Audi, nobody knows!

The rear of that illustration gives me some Alfa-Romeo vibes!
It looks a lot like the Alfa GT.
At least kind off, and Alfas are pretty!

I’m a bit troubled by that rear wheel arch…it looks a bit too Mazda for my taste, but I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.

I was hoping that SAAB 9-3 NG (2012) would be inspired from the old SAAB 99 and SAAB 900 classic.
But, it seems to me that the new model will be inspire from SAAB 9-3.
Hoping that the new model would succeed and help in SAAB’s long term survival and profitability

Don’t you think OG 9-3 was inspired by the c900 hatch?
You can only take a boxy shape so far if you have any interest in aerodynamics. A…. was the same back in the eighties.
Until they reinvent the wheel good family cars will look fairly similar.

Don’t take that fuzzy photo as anything like gospel. It’s old, has incorrect proportions and is very likely a long way from what a production car would look like, which I’m sure will be much better. I hope so anyway.
