Saab has filed for a time extension

October 27, 2011 in News

According to TTela, Saab has petitioned the court for an extension to their original 1pm deadline today.

The court granted their request and are now waiting for more information from Saab concerning Saab’s desire to continue the reconstruction process.

From Di.se 14:08

Saab is late with opinion to the district court

At one o’clock on Thursday was the deadline for Saab to file its response to the district court in Vanersborg, where they must justify why the reconstruction will continue. But still, no documents have been received from Saab.

Last Thursday came the news that Saab Automobile’s administrator Guy Lofalk requested that the reconstruction be canceled because the company is out of money. Then 13 days Thursday Saab must present its reasons to the district court why the reconstruction should continue.

But at one o’clock on Thursday afternoon, the district court in Vanersborg not yet received Saab’s opinion.

“Time has passed, but given how important the issue is I do not think it will be totally impossible. But they can not come in with their opinion how late any time because we will decide tomorrow Friday,” says Elisabeth Lindstrom, court secretary in the district court in Vanersborg.

According to Judge Cecilia Tisell the district court in Vanersborg, Saab has not asked for more time, writes TT. According to her, Saab must immediately get into the documents if they want to ensure that the district court to consider their response.

The district court may make decisions but Saab’s opinion, she says.

“In that case, we base our decision on the administrator duties. We will be working on this afternoon,” said Cecilia Tisell said.

At Saab says Ms Gustav of Communications to di.se that “all interested parties have been in communication with the district court in the case of Saab’s reply,” but confirms that no “official document” has been submitted.

Have you asked for more time on you?

“The only thing I can say is that we have been in contact with the district court.”

Will you be submitting a response to the district court?

“We must come back to [them].”

There is no doubt that Saab must provide strong and credible reason for the reorganization will continue, after the administrator Guy Lofalk has requested that the reconstruction be interrupted.

Saab must be concrete in its opinion, says Elizabeth Lindstrom.

“I do not want to speculate on the reasons the company would come up with. But can they prove that it has received money in the account, it is clear that it would prove that the reconstruction will continue, given that it has been the economy that has been the reason for the administrator Guy Lofalk requested that the reconstruction would be stopped.”

According to Elizabeth Lindstrom, Saab must show either that Guy Lofalk have been wrong in its conclusions, or that circumstances have changed.

Saab confirmed on Thursday by Ms Gustav on the company’s communications department, that the negotiations with Pang Da and Youngman continues. Under an agreement signed in July, the Chinese companies to acquire 53.9 percent of Saab Automobile to 245 million, around 2.2 billion. But according to the Dagens Industri want the two companies now instead acquire the entire Saab Automobile.

On Friday, taking the district court in Vanersborg decision on whether the reorganization should continue or not. Will there be a no, the company is again under bankruptcy.

Statement from Saab on SVT’s report on Victor Muller’s compensation

October 27, 2011 in News, SAAB Automobile AB

This morning several news sites in Sweden wrote about Victor having earned 18 million Swedish crowns from Saab in 2010. These reports were obviously based on calculations of the Swedish TV programme SVT Rapport. Here’s a statement from Saan on that topic:

Saab Automobile and Swedish Automobile (Swan) have taken notice of a report by Swedish media outlet SVT in which a specification of Victor Muller’s remuneration over 2010 was given. Unfortunately, this report contains a number of serious mistakes and therefore provides an incorrect overview of Mr. Muller’s remuneration over 2010. Mr. Muller’s total remuneration over 2010 was approximately EUR 862,500. Saab Automobile and Swan refer to the 2010 annual report of Spyker Cars N.V. for the only complete and correct overview of Mr. Muller’s remuneration over 2010.

Lars Carlström on the role of the Swedish Government in the Saab saga

October 27, 2011 in News

Lars Carlström wrote this article that will be published in Dagens Arbete, the paper of the union IF Metall today. Here’s a translation:

Swedish industry’s reputation in Europe is seriously damaged by the government’s official non-involvement in the SAAB, none of our leading ministers have set foot in Trollhattan the past two years despite the massive problems the automobile industry has undergone, there are exceptions in the alliance, Mats Odell (KD) has worked to create an engagement, he has acted as he should, he has visited the factory supported the staff and talked highly of the company and its directors who are doing their best to solve its problems.

The other part concerns the days remaining in october wich are to be paid by Saab. Its too complex to make two paiments…

October in Ohio: Center of the Saab Universe

October 27, 2011 in News

Besides the fanastic work that Saab of North Olmstead is doing with their Snap Up a Saab Campaign, Just Saab recently participated in a local SCCA Autocross in Cincinatti, Ohio. A report from Joey Conley, their sales manager, documented the results.

Many Saabs were on the course from a 2001 9-3 Viggen to a 2011 9-4X Aero. For most it was a first autocross experience. The SCCA created a category for Just Saab. Of course the fastest Saab of the day was a Hirsch equipped 2010 9-5 Aero XWD.

After talking to participants in the autocross, we plan on attending next years event with a larger contingent of Saabs.

That parking lot has never seen so much fun, I’m sure. It’s amazing to me that the capital of Saab promotion and spirit. seems to have moved to the Buckeye State, but I’m beyond impressed. Keep up the great work. Click past the break for all the photos, and a more detailed account from Joey.

Saab of North Olmstead Launches Contest This Weekend

October 26, 2011 in News

We covered this last week when the initial details were published, and now as promised we have concrete information on how locals in Cleveland can get involved. If you or your family or friends live there, I highly suggest you sign up right away to participate in the promotion by clicking here.

It’s pretty simple, you sign up, you get a Saab to drive on Sunday, put up to 350 miles on it during the week ($1/mile if they go over), and then promote the hell out of the car and your own microsite to promote your point total. There’s two QR codes, one inside one out, that you can scan with most smartphones (I use the I-nigma app), and get as many other people to scan your codes and take pictures of you/etc. and post on your microsite. There’s also sponsors like Dunkin Donuts to check in to and boost your point total and further promote Saab. The top 6 point winners each week from the first round make it to the semis, then they’re whittled down to 5 after two days of intense lobbying on their friends’ Facebook walls surely. Those 5 pick a key fob, one of which will be the winner that will help them unlock their very own Saab valued up to $50,000.

This whole thing is not just cool, it should get a ton of press, and helps to make Saab not only more visible but aligns it very closely with new and upcoming technology. And it always helps to give away free stuff to get people excited. Speaking of which, just for participating in the contest, you’re entitled to a discount off a new Saab. That goes even if you just scan the QR code off the side of one at the supermarket or Dunkin Donuts. We’ll be covering the microsites as they go live, they’re bound to provide tons of fun Saab content :)

AutoSocks for sale in GB Saab Dealers

October 26, 2011 in News

We all know winter is on it’s way and here in the UK we don’t see as much snow as our Saab’s would like.
As a rule we don’t normally put winter tyres on our cars, some of us do have snow chains in readiness but there are times when we all need a small bit of help.
AutoSock is an alternative to Winter Tyres and Snow Chains which is designed to help you get out of trouble. Take a look at their site http://www.autosock.co.uk/.

My local Saab Dealers, Astley’s of Yeovil (01935 848314) and Concept Saab in Cardiff (02920 391200) have the more popular sizes available to buy at the counter.
Prices for the more common sizes (225×45 x17 and 235x45x17) are £64.96 including vat but they are happy to quote for other sizes.

Next time you pass your local Saab Dealer why not take a quick look.

Saab timing is important.

October 26, 2011 in Uncategorized

Whatever type Saab You drive or fly, timing is always very important. Saabs future is now dependent on accurate timing on could say.
One part of Saabism is the various timekeepers their owners use on their wrists and in cockpits.
I have as part of my watch collection some interesting Saab watches and timekeepers with historical importance for Saab.
- The Turbo X watch
- Original 99 Turbo Watch
- The 9-3 watch (one of them all, Saab made a load of different ones)
- The anniversary watch from 1987
- Historical Heuer Rally set used in 60-70 ies by the Saab Rally department
- Omega Olympic Offical Rally FIA timekeeper with Rattrapante function (split-second chronograph)
I am looking for one unique Saab watch if You have seen this one the IWC Mellow Yellow Saab 9-3 watch

No News Is Good News

October 25, 2011 in Editorial, News

The next 24-48 hours are going to be extremely quiet on the news front. Anything you read, I’d take with a huge grain of salt because it’s going to be speculative. The newsmakers have gone into radio silence mode, they don’t want good or bad news disturbing a potential deal between any parties. As such, we’re holding most of our coverage and are going to be focusing less on the deals side until there is concrete news to report.

Negotiations at the moment are in full swing, and any news source that claims they have a handle on a clear picture is straight up lying at this point. We’re in touch directly with those in the know, and will report what we can when we can. While we’d love to give a behind the scenes shot of negotiations, we’re not interested in disturbing or upsetting any potential deals. Needless to say, it’s going to be a busy few days ahead.

In the meantime, we’ll be focusing our attention on the numerous efforts that different branches of Saab are working on around the world, from Germany to Ohio. The only thing that I can report with some certainty is that Saab will be around for years to come, so these marketing efforts aren’t without cause.

Also please continue to be mindful and have a little more faith in the people who are negotiating for Saab’s survival (not just Victor Muller). They aren’t the ones who steered Saab into this minefield, but they’re the ones who will pull it out.

SvD & Di writes about Saab today

October 25, 2011 in Uncategorized

To conclude todays news from SvD (Svenska Dagbladet) and Di (Dagens Industri) in a nutshell:

- Pang Da and Youngman claims the have the right to be first in line to buy Saab at the latest November 15th.
- NDRC have appointed Pang Da and Youngman to be the ONLY companies that are allowed to negotiate with Saab.
- Last piece in this intricate puzzle is weather GM will approve a new owner constellation. GM will give their answer first when there is a prime candidate.
- Negotiations are on.

‘Foul play’ and ‘plot’ speculation add to Saab saga

October 25, 2011 in News

From just-auto.com:

SWEDEN: ‘Foul play’ and ‘plot’ speculation add to Saab saga

Author: Simon Warburton
| 24 October 2011

European automotive supplier association CLEPA says it is due to receive an update from Saab CEO
Victor Muller this evening (24 October) as speculation swirls of ‘foul play’ in the automaker’s latest developments to keep afloat.

Saab ended a deal with Pang Da and Youngman to purchase 100% of its shares as well as a subscription deal, but CLEPA says it now believes some of the speculation it has heard could have some foundation.

“Victor Muller of course has talked about foul play for two weeks,” CLEPA CEO Lars Holmqvist told just-auto.
“I started believing there is some foul play going on in some plot to get rid of Victor Muller and most of all [Russian businessman] Vladimir Antonov as owners.”
