Muller: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger

October 20, 2011 in News

P4 West have exclusively spoken with CEO Victor Muller and he confirms what we have written before, that Saab’s administrator GUy Lofalk has worked with his own agenda.

- I am very disappointed. We had some clear indications the the chinese financiers were not going to transfer the money we had agreed upon last week, say Victor Muller to P4 West.

According to Muller, Lofalk has been more focused on arranging a change in ownership, that chinese Youngman and Pang Da would buy 100% of Saab instead of the 50% the companies earlier had agreed upon, to get a continued reconstruction.

Swedish SVT and TV4 coverage of Saab tonight

October 20, 2011 in News

Aktuellt at 21:00 gave a very shallow news brief on the Saab situation. The killing of Gadaffi just takes the whole energy potential within Swedish media today.

TV4 our largest TV network had a longer and more detailed reporting on Saab in their 22:00 Economic News.
Interesting to hear that TV4 claims that the chinese investors where willing to invest 5.5 Billion SEK into the company, but was turned down by SWAN. Lars Carlström claims that the “hidden agenda” is to get Victor Muller (and indirectly Vladimir Antonov I guess) out of the picture.

For those of You who understand Swedish here is a iPhone movie of the TV4 news.

New York Times talk to Victor

October 20, 2011 in News

New York Times (original article here):

PARIS — Saab Automobile’s last hopes for avoiding collapse appeared to be fading Thursday, with Chinese investors getting cold feet and the court-appointed administrator recommending that its reorganization process be halted.

“The situation is rather complicated,” Victor Muller, the Dutch entrepreneur who bought Saab from General Motors in 2010, said in a telephone interview. “We’ve seen the Chinese investors making U-turns in the last few days. That is very concerning because just last week they had confirmed their interest.”

NG 9-3, 14 months away…

October 20, 2011 in News

Despite the production standing still in Trollhättan, the engineers are hard at work. Even though many engineers have left the company the spirit is still very high and work has continued, perhaps not in the phase initially thought but still at a high rate on the next generation 9-3. We have heard from several sources that the car should be ready for production within about 14 months, which means it could be either aprox 14 months or even sooner.

The car has already undergone test-drives in different environments. Personally I thought it would be delayed a lot more due to the financial situation at Saab so I consider this as very good news!

One source told us that the car looks really cool, that even the base line model features a lot more than normal and looks incredibly good! Some more details that have leaked to us is that the distance between the front and rear wheels is greater than normal, giving more space within the cabin of the car. We’ll just have to wait and see! =)

Swedish Police ditches Saab…

October 19, 2011 in News

The swedish police has been a long time customer of Saab cars but as the current fleet of 9-5 SportsCombi’s and V70′s are getting older and sadly no cars are being produced at Saab, the Swedish police has turned its eyes somewhere else. And the eyes were turned towards Germany.

An order of 50 special built VW Passat with different diesel, gas and gasoline engines ranging from 150-300 hp with the dual-clutch system DSG and the “4Motion” Haldex four-wheel drive as an option.

-”Since the car is one of the police force most valuable tools, it is very important that they are engaged and get to decide how the car is to be shaped. It’s clear that the police have longed for something new to work with. Say Peter Norrman, project manager at VW Group Sweden to Automotor & Sport.

We can only hope that in the future, Saab again can become the preferred choice of the Swedish police force. Personally I think it is a shame that the Swedish Police did not choose Volvo as a supplier.

Saab German dealer Tour 2011

October 19, 2011 in News

Yesterday I received an invitation from my dealership. I’m invited to preview the 9-4x and the 9-5 SC on German soil and have some chat with him an other Saab owners.

He knows that I write at SU and that already know those cars, but he also knows that I could spend years simply sitting besides one of those cars :-)

But yesterday evening Tom from Saabblog.net that his is not only happening at my dealership, but it is a tour organized by Saab Germany and will visit many German dealerships.

The tour will last two weeks starting on the 24th of October in northern Germany and will go southwards. It seems that there will be 2 sets of cars as some of the dates do overlap.

The schedule is incomplete as some of the dealers haven#t confirmed the date yet.
