14-15th of January!

December 22, 2011 in Saabology, SaabsUnited Related

A group of Saab enthusiasts have joined forces and brought this website online. In the spirit of the original Saab Support Convoy, which was organised in 2010 by Eric van Nimwegen, Sidney Polak, Lindy Dragstra, Stephan Lampe and Roger van Keulen, the14th and 15th of January 2012 will see meetings worldwide to support Saab. Not being in the form of a convoy, but a real meeting where those who support our brand can meet and chat. These are world-wide meetings happening on different locations all over the world during that weekend.

ALL SAAB CLUBS AROUND THE WORLD, WE CALL UPON YOU TO PLEASE ORGANIZE A TIME AND A PLACE FOR PEOPLE TO MEET!

If you know of ANY event being organised please make sure this is mentioned to the outside-saab.com team! Send an email with all relevant details including the venue, date and time and anything else being organised to outsidesaab@gmail.com.

  1. What is this hinting at? A support convoy? A sale? A viral advertising campaign? I feel left out… :D

  2. I’d like a high-resolution version ASAP to hang up on every single billboard I can find ;)

  3. This looks interesting! I will keep a beady eye on developments over the holiday period.

On another matter; any one heard from Swade?

Have a peacful and Merry Christmas.

    Griffin Up! Cuore Sportivo!

  4. Hello
I’m quite new on this forum. I’m big Saab fan and owner…..can someone tell me, is the any chance to fix those things again and to make those wonderful cars again?
    Ivan from Slovenia

  5. Exciting! And it also coincides nicely with the North American Auto Show… Is it finally time to show the new 900? :D

  6. I like the associations the “we are many” brings to my mind ;-)

Since Patric Ullaeus and revolver.se is behind the 9-4x video from Mfx.se, let’s view another of his video. With a wedish vband and stragely suitable lyrics:

  7. …resistance is fultile!

    ;-)

  8. I’m in ;)

We will win this round this time too!! We won again GM nearly 2 years ago! WE CAN DO IT AGAIN :D

  9. Why do we always have to do this in freaking JANUARY! :) My crystal ball tells me it’s going to be at least -20 C.
As stated before I’ve got my Save SAAB sticker sitting in the glove compartment *waiting*. (just in case…)

  10. YES!!! Thanks you guys you made me happy! I’ve wished for this so much!

  11. If this is gonna take place (as well) in Finland, I’m there!

  12. Yes, as someone whote few minutes ago – another fan from Slovenia. I have 9-3 and I have to say, that I have one strange problem. I had italian can, german, french, japanese, but Saab have all the best from those cars. I love to go to work, off the work, because I drive my Saab. And now, which car to buy? Volvo is not Volvo anymore, maybe Subaru, Mercedes is for the butchers, Audi for pimps, BMW for ….who knows. I know that money rules the world, but this is insane. Of course we hope for the best, for the people of Trollhattan, but are there any good signs at all in those past two days? Yesterday Mrs. Pang was there. Ivan

  13. Hey Tim, leuk dat je Nederlands praat ! Wordt t in Duitsland gehouden ?

  14. heeft U meer informatie voor deze meeting a.u.b.?

  15. Anyone on board for representing Madison and/or Milwaukee?

  16. “You guys are too good with Google or so.”

Yes you could be right ;)

  17. read it, the web site is shown on the picture
    http://www.outside-saab.com/

  18. YES. We CAN….go go go

  19. I know the website is new, but it really needs twitter, facebook, Google+ links to get a strong movement going. Also, if I might recommend that everyone send the link to the manager/owner of their local saab dealer/s and independent shops. Saab of Tampa and Dimmitt Saab (both great dealers) here in Tampa/St. Pete Florida will get a e-mail from me asking them to support the events.

  20. Trollhättan, Sweden! I will be there! Räkna med mig!

  21. Please that this LOGO stays on top of the web to 14-15 January

  22. “We are many” is a great slogan. we are many indeed. many potential customers of Saab (not GM).

Imho it would be useful to see a cumulated number of visitor counts not “only” on SU but also other fan sites and maybe even saab.com. 1-2 impressive numbers without breaking any confidential things. The Saab facebook page counts 100.000+ fans.

Imho still a good argument for a potential buyer. Needs to be collected by someone trusted. SU is here …

  23. To all Belgian poeple out here. I still have thi big “I love SAAB” sticker from the latest belgian advertising compaign.
It’s in white. So if anyone wants to have it for free, just come and pick it up.
Address: Schauff Automobile SAAB / Rue de Herbesthal 138 / 4700 EUPEN/ Belgium
    Tel +32 (0)87 595350
I cannot unfortunately not perticipate as thes will be the first weekend of BMS (Belgian Motorshow) in Brussels and we have local show with our other brand.

  24. why can’t a Saab support convoys be formed that does not go to detroit or elsewhere to be negative. A convoy that brings medical supplies to africa, euro’s to Greece, toys to orphanages……
Saab always looked out for all it’s drivers n passagers in terms of safety, why cant Saab drivers around the world show that “we” are the same as our cars and the company that once made them – full of heart.

    • I guess that you mention is a different league of play. Yes it could be organized but we are not a formal associaton, foundation or anything that is meant to be active in the field of charity.

Apart from that, of course anyone can be a giver, however the aim today is different, the need is now to show off the worldwide support for saab, evidence that we care (and not a tiny-bit for that matter)

I agree it should NOT be shown with any aspect of negativity however. The message should be very, very good natured, that’s a key imho.

On a footnote though, to bring euros to Greece is a kind of nonsense, and I guess the situation with Saab, nor with Greece, are something to be taken this lightly!

  25. It’s good idea ,I’m from Jordan and want saap to raise up again

  26. As a true believer, it’s really been a rough week, Like many of you, I’m still holding out hope that some white knight will swoop in and pick up Saab in one piece and make them alive again. But really, the 14th or 15th of January? By then I suspect Saab will be saved or really be on the ash bin of history. I appreciate that it takes time to organize something like this, but what’s the point if its going to be over one way or the other by then.

    • Why not? Its a fun thing and if we are lucky it could also be a productive thing!

    • I think it’s the build up to the event that’s important, not least to support those negotiating in THN. Even better if the international press would runs the story. But I agree it will probably became a great celebration or one huge wake for the factory.

  27. anything planned for chicago? same location (ikea)?

  28. Who’s in for a Montreal, Canada meeting?

  29. I will keep these dates free; in Belgium if possible but in the Netherlands if needed; but I will be present.

  30. Very nice, I plan to join the convoy to Trollhättan. :)

  31. If you guys want a logo for the new Facebook profile look, I made one:

  32. Though we cannot be there in person I thought we should do ‘our bit’ here in the UK’s West Country.
So we have the ‘GWS January Stroll for SAAB 2012′
    More info here:
    http://gwsforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=placestogothingstodo&thread=1107&page=1
    All SAAB owners welcome!

Merry Christmas from Great Western SAABs

  33. Great idea David, when i saw the date i thought you might decide to combine the two together, are you going to review your uksaabs posting?

  34. Is that any reason for SAAB enthusiasts to no longer enthuse?

    • NO reasons at all. I might sound like good old Bagdad-Bob, but it is for from over. Saab is a strong brand with even stronger supporters. We will outflank all the non interested risk capitalist and all lame government.
We have the numbers on our side and combined the actual money the money that buys Saab cars.

  35. Our dealer stay’s put with Saab, rented his office/showroom for another 5 years (from jan.2012) and decided to grow even bigger! It’s not over yet.

  36. I think you missed a few points regarding what SAAB is.

  37. Tim, Any news today ?

  40. Hi
tell me please something because I don’t know much about Sweden system. Is there any realistic chance to save Saab, to make those cars again and to make Trollhattan people and us happy again? I still belive in miracle and …..
    Ivan

    • Yes there is! It is being worked on right now!

      • Thanks. Do you know something we don’t? I’m not asking what, but that silence makes me think. Example: nothing about visit of Mrs. Pang yesterday.

        • Ivan,
YM came to Sweden to try to buy Saab as a whole, they are working on that, and in this case no news means good news, or at lest no fail.

          This is all we know.

          • Thank you! I come from Slovenia, we hav
e bad times here, many people don’t work and this is really hard time for them. And that is why I’m sorry for Saab employers. Thank you once more! Ivan

      • Prefer to believe it’s the end. Too many hopes, too many deals, VA, Hawtai, Pang Da, NSC, youngman…..prefer to have good surprise, but too tired. Sorry.

  41. Je propose une opération permanente pour réveiller le monde la route .
