I’ve got four people in as many years to buy used saabs, three loved them and one bought an off-lease 93 and it needed a window regulator, brakes, and a strut within in a year. She said it was the worst car she ever owned-I told her someone probably plowed a pot-hole with it and opened the window repeatedly while frozen shut, I told her to get one from a friend of mine who ownes Country Imports here in Wisconsin, it would have been cheaper to buy and to fix.

I bought my 2009 9-3 Aero XWD exactly two years ago after GM shut the Saab doors as I thought that this would be my last chance for a new Saab. Some thought me crazy, but this car is as cool today as it was in December 2009 when I picked it up from the GM dealer. All the GM sales guys were out looking at it and were glad it was going to a local Saab enthusiast and a good home. If this is the end, a new 9-5 is destined to be a fine collectors item (as are… Read more »

The problem with a SH or NEW, NG9-5 will be spares, particularly body parts….

Maybe a great Car, but…….

Anyone know how the NG 9-5 takes low speed collisions? The 9-3 is excellent in that regard. The rear bumper seems to hold up unbelievably well.

NG 9-5 holds up similarly or better, depends a bit on where the impact hit. Current spare problems will most likely be solved when current production problems are solved (even if it’s a godforbidden shutdown).

10 meters up Watersteeg, in Amsterdam.

I still love my 2004 9-5 Wagon as much (or more) than the day I drove it off the dealer’s lot as a new car. They are wonderful vehicles—this is my first but I hope it’s not my last.

My son has my 2004 9-3 and loves it. I have a 2007 9-3 sportcombi with 149,000 miles and the most I’ve ever replaced is a headlight bulb. Great car and I got it new for only $25K. Right now I’m looking at 2011 9-5’s and local dealers are taking off $17K on a demo and $16K on new. So tempting, but it appears we’ll know Saab’s fate within a week, once and for all. The question is, buy the 9-5 anyway if Saab folds? There’s something to be said for having the last of a breed. I think the… Read more »

No question it’s a hell of a car for that price, better than just about anything in its class…

But if your local dealer goes under?

And look how many parts for 9-5’s and 9-3’s are *currently* on indefinite backorder? Have you tried to get the electronic key parts for a 9-3? Last I heard, they are one of the items on indefinite backorder. Scary stuff.

I wouldn’t want things to go on backorder while I’m still paying off the car.

If 1 car was sold in 2010 and 2 in 2011, sales increased 100%….Wow!!

Wonder about average transaction price (versus MSRP) for those 4.6K sales and how inventory levels are at this point…
