Saab of the Week: Into the sunrise!
December 21, 2011 in SaabsUnited Related
I truly believe that Saab’s nightmare is over, the company has woken up and is right now facing the sunrise! When the situation is at its worst, it can only get better!

This won’t help me and my 2011 NG9-5, but it will protect many other Saab owners.

GM Statement on Saab Vehicle Warranties in North America
2011-12-20
DETROIT — In the event Saab cannot or will not fulfill its obligations to administer the warranty programs with its U.S. and Canadian dealers through Saab Cars North America or otherwise, General Motors will take necessary steps to ensure that remaining warranty obligations on Saab vehicles marketed by GM in the United States and Canada will be honored.

I’m still sad, but believe SAAB will live! I just hope VM really knows he didn’t really fail.
Paul said on December 21, 2011
I was thinking that too. I think he knows, or he will come to know that in time. He’s a hero in my book.

California dreaming or something like that … Saab is going to be liquidated. This is no sunrise, it is the sunset. IF going away is better than you’re correct I guess.
montahue said on December 21, 2011
The most of all GM-damaged Saab model (not counting the re-badges) looking pure Saab. Not a bad photo. If my printer was not out of ink i would take it to the bed.
Smithy said on December 21, 2011
Feels sad that a whole Saab era has ended, if we count from start to bankruptcy, roughly 60 years…
But is it really that sad that we want to make it? Maybe not my fellas…, maybe not..

I’ve got some good vibes from Youngman lately, they seem to understand Muller’s words that Saab’s essence is in Trollhattan. Production can’t be moved elsewhere – it may be extended but not replaced, in a perfect world that is – we’ll see what comes out of this!
montahue said on December 21, 2011
“14:00 Victor Muller walks up on the stage inside the factory and he is met by applause from the employees”
Thats not bad for a CEO who meets his employees to inform them about a bankruptcy.
The haters (from where do they get the air?) if they was smart enough would call him a cult leader but he is not. He is a Rock Star.

Very nice set of wheels. By far better than any piece of crap GM has to offer that I will never buy anyway.
Iiari said on December 21, 2011
Just FYI, those are the Turbo-X’s wheels released in 2008 that were designed when GM owned the company. Crap, no?
No, really, I get your sentiment, but we might as well be accurate, no? Just sayin’…

Chinese?, I think you’re only talking about Pang Da. Youngman is currently in Trollhättan trying to buy SAAB…
MeanSabean said on December 21, 2011
Sorry Tim, I got a little nervous when I read the article! At least I got a positive response out if you! Keep up the good work and positive news.
troy said on December 21, 2011
I thought that was Youngman also. Pang Da has been out for a while. Why is Rueters even reporting on Pang Da?
Per-Erik said on December 22, 2011
because, like all other vultures, they love negative reporting and bad news….

SAAB: Engage!!

Ok, I know this is going to be a controversial post and qualifies as kicking folks when they’re down, but I have to ask the question since it’s been bothering me…
Also, while I feel hugely for the workers (having been out of work for a period in the past myself, a much scarier thing in the US than Europe) and have been in their shoes myself before, WHY NOT A PEEP OUT OF THE WORKFORCE? People have been protesting over the world (Arab Spring, Occupy, etc) in the last year in support of various ideologies, but what about thousands of people in Sweden with their LIVES on the line? Nothing… Occupy GL’s office? Nope… Mass march to Swedgov to intervene? Nope… Occupy the EIB? Nada. Rallies at the factory to attract media attention? Zilch. Workers organizing worldwide petitions online to get fan support? Nope… Lawsuits against GM from the unions? Crickets… Not a whisper of *fight* in this Saab worker group at all.
Why do we care more than they seem to do? I wrote letters in support of Saab to GM, US congresspeople, etc. What have Saab workers collectively done? I seriously really don’t get this aspect at all and want someone to explain it to me…
Such a lack of spunk and combativeness supports a dark, subversive theory of mine that one of Saab’s historical problems with competing in the marketplace has been a workforce that was somewhat complacent, isolated, milquetoast, and, you know, comfortable, with a “good enough” mentality (hellooooo interior design and plastics and engine HP). That their jobs being on the line didn’t seem to raise this group’s pulse or blood pressure kind of, for me, backs my skeptical supposition….
I hope someone can prove me wrong!

What is the indication of this photo?
Why choose this 9-3 SS photo?
Good sign, the 93SS can be built!
Saab is saved!
Yeah man, thanks million

@Liari
Because they can’t.
Theirs’ is a completely different dynamic.
We are their medium of public emotional support…such as it is.
