Some of the true heroes at SAAB
December 23, 2011 in News
These are some of the many true heroes of Saab, they belong to the department on the production line called Tilt/Final 1 also called with the code DPMBA, each department in the company has it’s own 5 letter designation. Yesterday these people did their last day at Saab as official employees. Some will return for some tasks still left undone but most of them might not ever step into the factory again…
The people here took this picture on their last day at work yesterday and the names of these people are from the left to the right:
Agneta Carlsson, Marcus Fjällstål, Henrik Kujala, Lars Larsson, Juan Carlos Vinatea, Petri Laitala, Magnus Eliasson, Uno Gustafsson, Sarkis Banous, Magnus Emanuelsson, Pierre Jonsson, Kalle Sjöberg, Daniel Büttner, Christer Karlman, Susanne Westring, Catrin Andersson, Daniel Johansson, Jukka Rokka, Anders Hernvall, David Hermansson and Jimmy Johansson.
Yep, my father is one of them… =)
Some of the things done on the cars where these people worked are: Tilting the car and mounting fuel tanks and refilling pipes, fuel / brake lines, air-shields, the rear hatch interior with lighting and electrics, mounting the body to the chassis and securing the undercarriage of the car and lots more! =) Not a single person in this team left, all of them stayed until the end, which was the case at most departments at Saab, truly fantastic people, all of them!

Hey Rob, I’m in Mtl as well. You thinking about supporting Saab on the 14th or 15th? I haven’t heard about anything official being organized yet. Have to support these heroes!

What can I say, THANK YOU 21 times! Or is that 20 times? TimR, 21 people in the photo, but only 20 names. Who’s missing?

Tim,
Thanks for posting this, but you’re breaking my heart. You are absoluteIy breaking my heart. I can’t bear the thought of not driving a Saab. All I want for Christmas is for these beautiful, dedicated, Saab-loving “Trolls” to get back to building Saabs in Trollhättan! I may be in denial, but there is still hope, and I will not give it up hope when it comes to Saab!

A bittersweet photo for sure. I can attest to the fine work you perform, I look it over before it is in the customers hands. You guys are the best. I truly hope you can all have a great holiday with friends and family, and get back into the swing of things soon.

Tim:
They just closed the refinery were I had my first job, and where my family worked for the last 100 years in Marcus Hook Pa. I understand what you are feeling. There is nothing we can personally do to undo these acts of trauma. Just remember this, the wheel is round, and those who are now on top, will be on the bottem, as surely as the sun will rise in the east tomorrow. Meanwhile we must redouble our efforts, never give up, or in.

These good loyal people may well have fitted parts to and helped to build my 9-3 sportwagon in December last year. Thank you all for being a part of my 9-3 ownership, the car you helped to build will take part in a support event in the southwest of England on the 15th January 2012 with pride, as a tribute to you all. My thanks and very best wishes for the future to all Saab employees,

Tack så mycket.

I’ll be soon making a 400km drive in my Saab, and while one of the reasons for the drive obviously is to get from A to B, it also in the same time is a gesture of gratitude towards all the amazing people at Saab. My thoughts will be with you during the always so inspiring and entertaining drive my Saab offers. Thank you and merry Christmas!
And a merry Christmas to all fellow Saab drivers, SU readers and SU staff as well!

I have experienced redundancy a few times in my life, once for example when I used to manufacture vinyl records, and I can relate to the feelings when a person is prevented from doing a job that they have their heart in. I truly hope that all you fantastic workers on the shop floor can soon be re-instated, so as to keep producing great feeling SAAB cars once again. Until then bon voyage, and strength to you all!
