Fitting the Hirsch Interior on a 9-3

It’s been quite a while since I last posted about my 9-3 Sedan. Way too much business stuff going on since then. As I already mentioned when I introduced it here on SU the plan was to change its character a bit through the extensive use of Hirsch parts. Of course this mission has been in progress all the time.

While I still have to get a few photos of the exterior changes (now that the summer tires are back on) in this post I’ll stick to the interior changes. I got the carbon leather dashboard and trim along with the leather door handle set. I have loved the embossed carbon structure on the Hirsch leather and I would not want to miss it since I got it in the 9-3x. The leather handles are a subtile addition – you feel the difference, it just completes it for me.

The picture above is of course a bit misleading as I did not do it all by myself. The guys at Hirsch took the opportunity to shoot video material and convert that into the three instructional videos I linked at the bottom of this post. All that interior stuff can be installed by yourself and even easier following those videos.

Due to the uncertainty which models will be produced by a future Saab Hirsch Performance is right now running a conservative strategy. This means that currently only the existing stock is sold. So if you are after some parts make sure to order rather sooner than later to be sure it is still available.

The orders are still handled by the Saab dealerships. Orders from the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland are handled via the Saab Parts ordering system while orders from all other markets continue to be made from the authorized Saab dealership or importer directly to Hirsch Performance. If any dealer faces difficulties in this the guys at Hirsch Performance told me they will of course offer assistance.

Great post Till, thank’s for being so informative. I think I know of at least one SU writer/reader that would have loved to watch these videos before tackling it on their own….lol

Although it’s great to see this post, it also filled me with fear : ‘Due to the uncertainty which models will be produced by a future Saab Hirsch Performance is right now running a conservative strategy. This means that currently only the existing stock is sold. So if you are after some parts make sure to order rather sooner than later to be sure it is still available.’ My car is packed with Hirsch parts, which is fantastic, until they need replacing, especially parts like brakes, suspension etc, I take it, that once these parts wear out (which they will)… Read more »

Awesome post. Wish I saw the video on installing the handbrake handle before doing it myself … it was not fun for me.

The door handles were easier though. A bit tricky, but not too bad.

How was the brake handle Ryan? lol, just teasing. I’m sure a video like this would have made everything so much easier though.

to get Hirsch interior is one of my small wet dreams, slowly the time is coming if Hirsch will have the parts on stock. However to decide between the leather and carbon leather dashboard is really a hard one. Both are great.

I want those leather door handles! Wonder if my dealer can order them. What does a set costs?

Very interesting / useful article – thanks !!

I’ve had Hirsch dashs fitted to both of my 9-3s by the local dealer – having seen the video, maybe I should have tried this myself… maybe I’ll try doing an interior kit on my “X” myself !

Interesting Hirsch suggest lifting the gearshift surround from the front – Haynes suggest prising it up from the back with a screwdriver.

Very interesting. But why is it necessary to change the base of the smart slot – surely the leather covered part should click into the original base?

Hi. Looks like the owner of these videos have made them private. Can this be undone, or the videos made available somehow?
