SAAB Försäkring sponsors DJA880
January 30, 2013 in News
The last Saab to leave the factory in Trollhättan was as I think all of you know, bought by us, the fans of SaabsUnited. About a week ago we stated that were looking for ways to cover the costs of maintaining the car. A place to have it parked is not an issue but insurance, taxes and maintenance is.
Today I had a nice talk with Maria at the insurance company IF who manages Saab Försäkring (Saab Insurance) and after a few hours she called me back, letting me know the good news that SAAB Försäkring (IF) will cover all the costs regarding insurance of DJA880. The insurance is a full drive insurance which means that the car is registered as active and in use. This also means that the car can visit several events this summer as a representative of the Saab Car Museum but also as a representative of SaabsUnited.
The total value of this insurance is just under 500 Euro and we are very grateful to IF and Saab Försäkring for wanting to help us with this issue.
We are also very happy that ANA has promised to cover the maintenance costs of DJA880, ANA felt that the car should be serviced in the same place as where it was born and of course Maptun did not feel offended by this issue (Maptun had previously promised to take care of the car). The first of many yearly maintenances should take place in April-May this year.
An private donor and very good friend of SaabsUnited has decided to support the car by covering the costs of the yearly taxes, at his request, his identity will remain secret.

Well done to ANA, IF and of course the anonymous donor. A very nice gesture indeed from you all. This final example of the 93 deserves to be looked after properly and you show a good example by commiting your services like this.
Thanks to all 3 of you!!

9-3 still looks current and – if priced right – could still sell with a few modifications.

I agree. They look great and don’t look like the first NG 9-3 back in 2003. For those who haven’t been a part of the brand or up on the news would probably go to the dealer and think it was a brand new line of cars. Most everyone I talk to have no clue what is going on with Saabs and just say “Didn’t they go bankrupt and they aren’t made anymore?” Only if they could develop it into a sedan type hatchback like the OG 9-3 and don’t say the sportcombi is a replacement because people will still see those as wagons. Honda has the Accord Crosstour and corresponding Acura ZDX. More the size of the 9-5 I know but still the same concept and they are selling just fine.
Great job on securing the insurance, taxes and maintenance for our beautiful car! Can’t wait to be able to buy the book about it.

Nice to hear! I look forward to see DJA880 “in the flesh” at the Saab Festival this summer.
