TTELA: Autoliv, we should know sometime next week

January 15, 2013 in News

TTELA (original article here) reports today that the supplier of airbag and safety systems Autoliv are looking into their abilities to deliver parts for a future 9-3 built by NEVS. Autoliv today supply systems to Volvo, Jaguar, Landrover, Scania and Opel. Saab used to be on that list as well.

- What we’re doing now is to check our production lines, tooling and our own suppliers to se if the possibilities are there for a production start after the summer of 2013 say Dan Persson, CEO of Autoliv in Sweden.

- We’re doing an analysis which we hope to be completed next week. We’re overseeing supply, maintenance and similar aspects since a lot has happened during the last 2 years. Thats the position we are in right now, and most likely several other suppliers who have been contacted.

A few weeks ago we reported that  some suppliers had not yet decided if they could help NEVS with its upcoming production restart, Autoliv was one of these companies mentioned and it feels positive that Autoliv is such a transparent company.

  1. Fingers croosed, hand crossed, arms crossed, toes crossed, feet crossed, legs crossed (behind the head) and let’s hope it’s possible to start the production at the end of the summer!

  2. Seems that autoliv has no problems with the “crisis “, every other company would be happy to get some more work . This time they can be assured that they get paid.

    • I think it has a lot to do with investments. If NEVS starts building 60000+ cars per year it would probably mean some serious investments for Autoliv and given the financial climate, no company wants to invest in production right now. It feels as most companies just want to ride it out until more companies actually increase production
