It can’t come soon enough!

Now that looks like the next step in the development. not the final version though.

Looks like the car I’ve been hoping for so long now. I can see most of Saabs history in that rear end design: 92, 93, 96, 900 Turbo, NG 9-5..just love it.
Agree totally! What a great angle.

The spoiler looks like the aftermarket one for Saab 99 CombiCoupe (wagon back) back in 1975. I rest my case until I see the pictures, but aerodynamically I feel the spoiler should be higher up on the hatch.
Red J said on February 12, 2013
The rear hatch has a very smooth curvature, so I don’t expect any pressure induced detachment of the flow prior to the current position of the spoiler. But I don’t have the geometry to proof it.

We’re ready & waiting…

Way to tease the Swedish news papers. Can’t wait!

I’m really biased, but if I compare this backend with the 3 GT or the A5 sportsback I get quite angry about the fact that this car was not allowed to hit the roads.
RS said on February 11, 2013
Red, Looks like hybrid between the c900 and CS, right?
TTAero said on February 11, 2013
Should we define “soon” now? Or are we to define that soon enough…:-D
This is getting very intetesting.

That picture makes my heart beat faster…
Just at the very left, mid hight there is the tip of the stick, right?
And right above the red stripe at the right, is there a second stripe? Or is it the center breaking light?
martinsaab said on February 12, 2013
I think it is the (big) red stripe reflecting in the rear spoiler/trunk lid.
Z! said on February 11, 2013
really nice! the color too…
Where has that color been? Why wasn’t that available on Saabs the last 15 years?
Z! said on February 12, 2013
I think there were a deeper shade of it mostly on old 900 cabrios…
Jeff said on February 13, 2013
It’s blue light on silver. So, the color has been available to anyone who wants to park their silver Saab outside a nightclub on a Saturday night.
Red J said on February 13, 2013
Stay out of the red light district
Z! said on February 13, 2013
nightclub without red light? Is there any? anyway i leave silver color for germans like mercedes, a SAAB has much colorful personality, like this pale turquoise

Someone with the inside knowledge, please say that this design will be used by NEVS for the EV2 and its ICE counterpart. Please!!!
Coke is it said on February 11, 2013
Please, Nevs, build it! It will be a major success regardless of the kind of engine used. Electric, nuclear, petrol, oxygen… just build it.
Carlo A said on February 11, 2013
I cannot wait any longer …. hurry up please

Now that’s a teaser!

I’m not usuallly given to violence Tim but in this case-where do you live again? I doubt I’d feel like this if i didn’t want whatever that thing is so much-it looks so good I hope oneday soon it gets made and JC gets to hand over his designs to NEVS. However this story has over some years not really been a happy one so I have to be prepared for this not to be the case and for it to take so long that it looses its Zeitgeist/currency and bleeds out like the 9-3 already has done, if we are honest. Seeing this design just makes it hurt a little more, given JC’s input, his knowledge and iconic status and the work the development teams did. A sense of urgency and some kind of bold statement of intent is required from NEVS I want to know their “design aspirations” soon before everyone including me just gets tired of waiting. To summarise, there is only so much suspense folks can take…Tim. (don’t worry i’m not really violent, I’m quite cuddly really but I smashed up my wife’s Volvo today so it would be good to have an excuse to buy a new Saab)

Pretty pictures, but let’s get something I can drive!
John C. said on February 12, 2013
I wasn’t thrilled about the rear end after seeing the blurry pic posted before. Though just a glimpse here, my mind has convincingly changed.
Jeff said on February 12, 2013
I suggest everyone waits until it zooms out Details help a ton, though.

This makes me feel excited but sad at the same time. It’s the second time this happens to me in the last 24 hours. Earlier, I found a facebook page with detailed pictures of the NG9-5 Sportkombis that were sold in the auction. Oh, that great design…. I’m sure this one looks very good aswell, and this is what makes me sad. The fact that these great cars will never hit the streets
Maarten said on February 12, 2013
I’m still confused. After this teaser I went back to the first teaser and to the article about that P4 paper that published the blurry pictures and read most of the 200+ comments (all added up ofcourse) but what’s the deal now? Is JC still designing for NEVS? Is this going to be a story of what could have been? Or is this going to reveal future plans for NEVS? Or is this still part of the teaser;-)?

So far, I like very much what I see.
Jusupov said on February 12, 2013
It´s looking very very good.
It could of course go both ways from that picture, but if the entire car is as great looking as this picture promises, it will be the hottest car ever.
The car does indeed has a reverse gear Jusupov
Jusupov said on February 13, 2013
Hey, we don’t know that yet, do we?
Patrik H said on February 12, 2013
Leaked image of the front-end. I love it!!! Hope we get to see it in some form or another over the coming years.
Tim said on February 13, 2013
Yeah those images were leaked by autocar a while ago. We’ve got much better stuff! Real photos thats coming soon! =)
I dont think it won’t, NEVS phoenix car is still several years away and they haven’t really started working on that project yet…
it has changed compared to previous images… on this pic it looks amazing, I hope that the other parts are just like this… …ok, I stay calm
Nads said on February 13, 2013
Patrik, nothing like it at all, that was dead in early 2011.
Carma said on February 13, 2013
As someone pointed out, the Castriota 9-3, at least the rear of it, is suspiciously similar to the new Porsche Panamera, specially the hip-area.
Maybe Porsche bought that JC design idea, hehe. Anyway that would have been a design that people would have loved or hated, much like the OG Panamera. I loved it. Top Gear hated it.
nothing like the SAAB. but i could see why you would get confused by the full width lighting and logo detail.
