NEVS shows interest in buying Saab Parts

According to an article from the local news paper ttela, Matthias Bergman has expressed the intention of NEVS to take over Saab Parts, if the price is right.

It is quite clear that there is a clear synergy between us and Parts. If the price is right, we are interested, he said, without specifying in more detail.

Maybe the moaning of some of our readers has been heard in THN. πŸ˜‰

________

Update from Tim: the sale of Saab Parts was pushed by the NDO during the sale of the bankruptcy estate. However at the time the price of 2,2 billion SEK which was demanded for the parts company was considered way too high for any potential buyer. Now the government has reduced the net-worth of the company by 0,6 billion SEK and in reality it would probably be reduced even further in order to become attractive for NEVS to purchase it.

Cool!
1) they are obviously serious about the long-term project!
2) they have very deep pockets! πŸ™‚

Woukld be good for all Saab drivers while being dependant of a parts supplier in the hands of a government is not ideal.
Better an owner that also builts the cars itself.

Except that 22% of NEVS is owned by a city government πŸ™‚

Hmmm I disagree, I would prefer the stability of parts supply that comes from government ownership myself…

GM lawsuit postponed until June 10th…..what would be the right price for Saab Parts? Probably not much

I should be happy, but I can’t help to think that Mahindra could be the owner right now, had the court realized the true value of Saab Parts back then. With Mahindra at the helm, we could have non-electric Saab’s being produced right now, a proper worldwide dealer network, and happy former customers/dealers who weren’t left to swim on their own. Where’s Angelo? I assume he’s finally faced reality and moved on, as I should be doing, as well.

Honestly the more I hear about NEVS the more I like them. I like the fact that its a swedish company with swedish managers in charge! These guys are smart and really know what they are doing!

You’ll know more tomorrow morning πŸ˜‰

I’m glad you’re optimistic. I hope I can hop on board one day, but the recent past has left me very skeptical. Look forward to tomorrow’s announcement.

Big announcement, huh? Saab Parts has finally addressed the lack of NG 9-5 replacement windshield issue? As long as it’s not something like “Fisker announces plans to buy Saab Parts”.

NEVS acquiring Saab Parts would probably be immensely helpful for them when setting up their dealer network and aligning service and parts distribution for new and old Saabs. Not to mention that I live in the city of NykΓΆping where Saab Parts is situated and them being a major employer here even more makes me want them to thrive.

Also, if NEVS is successful in acquiring Saab Parts (let’s hope so), it is a good indication of their financial capacity…

No matter who owns Saab Parts, can you please make sure someone produces windshields for the NG 9-5! If mine cracks / breaks, I can’t drive my car until someone does produce them.

This would provide NEVS with a good base dealer network which they surely need πŸ˜‰

Access to combustion engines!! This is just a speculation but rumors has it that GM has not been too keen on supplying new engines for the production restart later 2013. Contracts with suppliers in the car industry is generally set up so that spare parts will be supplied for the coming 15 years beginning on the last year a car is produced. If this reasoning is correct Saab Parts has a contract obliging the supplier of engines to be able to provide engines for the coming 15 years, beginning in 2012 as the last year of produktion was 2011. As I was reading Saab Parts Twitter feed something dawned on me. They are using the Griffin as their logo, if NEVS buys Saab Parts would this give them the rights to use it on Saab cars as well ?
