Swedish Day UK, biggest yet.

Swedish Day 2013 was once again a well supported event. Just shy of 200 vehicles came along to the sixth show which was held in the show field at Haynes Motor Museum. This year we had the delight of welcoming seven trucks as well as almost all of the models from both Volvo and Saab from the early sixties to the present day.
Many prizes were awarded and these included three categories where the public helped to choose the winners. Each winner received a very nice glass trophy as well as a bottle of bubbly and a bar of chocolate.

The cars and lorries came from all corners of Great Britain including Scotland and North Wales. We also had foreign visitors who travelled from the South and North of Belgium and Central and Northern France. Its always a delight to see our European visitors enjoying the show. And its with them in mind that we start the weekend off with a carvery the night before at the local Sparkford Inn.

Set up started early on the Sunday morning and we welcomed everybody with a passion for Sweden. Even those with out a Swedish vehicle are always welcome to come and look around the 200 cars and trucks on display and to look around the stores and auto jumble.

This year we had the threat of rain, the first time in six years but luckily it did not arrive until after 1pm and did not deter the people from coming along.

Nest years Swedish Day will take place on Sunday the 11th of May.

Glad to have been a part of it. Lots of talk with friends I hadn’t seen in a while, and lack of talk with friends I saw, but didn’t have the time to. A fantastic effort and much kudos to Robin M and Alex for making this meeting another successful one.

Congratulations to all winners – all very highly deserved.

Looks like a great event! One interesting thing I noticed is the 9-3 convertible in the foreground that is pulling the camper trailer. I was not aware the 9-3 could tow something that weight (does anyone know the approximate weight of that camper?). I am interested because I have wondered if it would be possible to use my 9-3 to pull my Sonett III on a flatbed trailer to events like this. I had assumed that would be too much to tow. (I have a 5’x8′ flatbed trailer I use with my 9-3 for hauling things from the garden supply… Read more »

2010 9-3 ttid sw, towing limit (braked trailer) 1500kg. I tow a 1350kg laden caravan as if it is just not there! 80% ratio caravan to car. Hope this helps

We tow our 1300kg Caravan with our 9-3SS Aero with ease, too.

Great pictures Robin, that time lapse video is brilliant 8)

Well done again to you and the team for organising another successful Swedish Day.

I spoke to a few people who were attending for the first time and all had very positive comments and will return next year, SD seems to go from strength to strength.

I think it was the best one yet 8)
