New Saab Models Coming Soon.

2014 will see a nice new line up of model Saabs in 1:43rd scale for us Mini Saab Fans.

Andrei from Griffin Models  (www.griffinmodels.com) has been hard at work producing and developing a few rare models like the EV-1 and the Phoenix as well as the Turbo X in both Saloon and Estate versions.

The list of new models include:

3. Saab 9-3 Turbo-X Combi (also as Griffin)
4. Saab 9-5 Linear/Vector 2010
5. Saab 9-5 Aero Combi 2010
6. Saab Phoenix

Although dates are not confirmed as yet all these will be in the shop during 2014.

Classic 900 fans have not been left out and you will see in the Configurator part of the site that there is now almost a full line up of 900 saloons and hatches. Here you can choose your body, wheels, left or right hand drive as well as lights etc. The list goes on. All you have to do is paint your model the colour you want and put it together.

Later this year Andrei will take delivery of a 3D printer which will help with the “one off” requests making it easier and quicker and to be more flexible with your requests.

I have placed a few extra pictures on flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/trollpowersaab/sets/72157626596402165/ configready

I love it but how does he know the design changes / face lift that’s going to become the EV1?

The EV1 was a Saab concept car from the 1980s

Ah, that EV1.. Sorry, my bad. Didn’t think about that.

Edit: But I wasn’t totally off. NEVS refers to the coming electric model as EV1as well:

To be nitpicky, the concept car from the 80s was called the “EV-1” (with a dash) while NEVS refer to their first electric vehicle as the “EV1”. 😉

3D printing…I’m still amazed that it’s even possible. What an incredible leap forward.

nice models, but what a tease……I read “New Saab Models Coming Soon” and scroll down looking for the 9-3 facelift, but not.

Hugh: I had the same reaction! Hey, I guess small scale new Saab models are the next best thing to actual “new models.” I’m sure NEVS is hard at work cooking up the new stuff as we write this.

How about writing an article on how many new saabs have been sold by nevs to date, who bought etc. ? Also I know you don’t know theese answers but when will they be coming to uk etc? A lot of people I know have changed their saabs – got very little for them and would be put off buying one again! This is due to the fact that we don’t hear when new ones will arrive!

Saabni: If you go to the saabcars website (NEVS) there is a “news” section that should update you on everything they’re doing at NEVS to reignite Saab. I was just on it last night. Apparently, nothing has happened since very early December. I think they’re on a siesta.

All joking aside—-if they are selling cars (taking orders online or whatever the heck they’re doing) doesn’t there need to be some sort of brochure—–even an electronic one on the website—-showing all angles of the car, all specifications, standard equipment, optional equipment—-some verbiage to make you want on one of the cars? I know maybe they’re trying something new by selling cars without dealers. But are they also trying something new selling cars without describing the cars? Whoever took the photos of the Saab models shown above—and wrote it all (Robin?) can help NEVS out.

I agree- would you spend this amount of money based on a single photo??? It doesn’t add up – maybe this is a front- they could be building necular bombs for china!

This is really starting to have the smell of fraud or a pyramid scheme. It’s not “unconventional” it’s unrealistic, the way they are doing things and NOT doing certain key things. Normal businesses that are trying to succeed don’t approach things this way. This has more the look of some of the green energy frauds in the U.S. who did just enough to make it look like there was action—-but were bilking taxpayers and investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars because there was no intention to ever grow and compete—-the mission was to make it look that way… Read more »
