Hirsch Performance 20″ Rims – Reloaded

combi3

For those among you who own a NG 9-5 it may be of interest that cardyourcar.eu and Autohaus Lafrentz in Kiel/Germany joined forces to collect orders for a new edition of the forged Hirsch Performance 20″ rims. Of course they will be genuine Hirsch Performance products.

If you are interested please contact Markus Lafrentz directly via eMail through m.lafrentz(at)saabkiel.de for details.

He also has a few Hirsch Performance bodykits for the NG 9-5 available. You can see them on his beautiful combi on the pictures in his post.

Man I WISH they made that combi in bulk. I would have one in my garage. Wheels look really nice!

If only they had started with the combi and added the sedan later.

Yes. I can’t speak for Europe but I believe if this had been introduced first in the U.S.A. and marketed as a sort of crossover vehicle, they would have found more buyers than they did for the sedan. There’s a lot they could have done with this car—-more than they ever could have done with the sedan. Again, I think Vic and his boys had a vision of what THEY wanted in a Saab car and executed their preferences above all else. An estate might not be as sexy as the sedan, but I think in this case—-the sheetmetal was… Read more »

Me too, this would be my next car if NEVS could make a miracle happen.

Forget the wheels I need the car…

If there’s any way or any how that NEVS can sell this gorgeous beast again, then they should. Priced at a competitive price point, I suspect this would be a sure-fire bread winner. Any time I see an NG 9-5 SC pop up on some automotive enthusiast site, like Jalopnik, it never fails to inspire lust amongst car enthusiasts that have never even considered buying a Saab. And besides, there’s nary a one of us Saabisti who hasn’t pined for the opportunity to get behind the wheel of one of these beauties!

Nevs, you already have my order, you got it from the bankruptcy estate so just give GM what they want and start making it, it will sell extremely well in China since they love big sexy cars.

Yep, plenty of space in the back for those Japanese battery packs.

GM will sell the IP for it to someone eventually. That’s how the old 9-5 ended up in China now. Just wait 6 to 8 years longer.

Those wheels do look nice on that 9-5 SC, but the low profile tires look like you could easily bend those wheels on any bad bump or pot hole. You need smooth roads to run those tires with those wheels.

Also, ultra low profile tires are expensive and have a relatively short wear life as well. It may be an expensive proposition, but some feel the style/performance is worth the cost, but often change their minds after hitting the pothole you mentioned.

I will go out of my way to avoid low profile tires. It’s getting more and more difficult with newer vehicles—-you want a higher trim level for a sunroof or some other feature and you’re stuck with oversized wheels and low profile tires. To me, it’s a fad, like spoilers were in the ’80s—-when every mundane sedan (Accord, Camry, etc.) had spoilers on the sport trim levels. Now we’re saddled with low profile tires. I don’t see the function for most daily driving—-style is subjective, but I prefer standard wheels/tires.

Being Hirsch they probably will cost more than my NG 9-5 is worth. But they look nice.
