SOTW, Adams Rescued 9-3

This weeks SOTW comes from 18 year old Adam Richard and comes with an added rescue story.

Hello!

I am hoping that my resurrected 9-3 will be a possible SOTW candidate. I have been a Saab lunatic since I was 12 years old, I even joined all of the online saab forums back in ’07 when I was 12 years of age.

I recently found a ’04 Saab 9-3 Aero on my local listings that was in awful shape (Blown engine, disgusting interior, mis matched tires, shot suspension etc etc). I managed to buy it for $600 and bring it back to life. Thousands of dollars, sweat, blood and tears later, the car is almost perfect.

I am extremely proud of this transformation…this car was destined for the wrecking yard within days before I picked it up. After the engine swap, I had nearly given up on this project all together. I had the car sold, but cancelled the deal because I knew it wasn’t the right thing to do. I do not regret my decision one bit.

Not only did I resurrect a 9-3 from the dead, but at the age of 18, I managed to do something people my age only dream of.

I have my trip for [email protected] booked as well!

The build thread can be found here:

Thank you!

A tip of the hat to you! A remarkable accomplishment for someone just 18. I’ve had a 66 MC850 for over 12 years, and I’m just now getting to it. I’m 71 and I know I would not have been able to do this at 18. The build thread was a good idea. I’ve started an MC850 restoration blog for my MC850 to put pressure on myself.

Thanks Adam! Looks really nice! I love they way 9-3 can be made to look totally different (from business look to badass) depending on its trim parts, rims and accessories. It is almost like there is unlimited versions of Saab 9-3 despite having the same body, great testimonies to its design language. I enjoyed your build thread.

OT Also nice to see someone finish something (whatever it might be) that they started, keep it up and you will succeed in anything.

Saabfrk – great job, now the result is SOTW!
I’ve followed your build over at SC, and I never thought that anyone would have had the tenacity to follow through when reading about all the issues…
Thanks for saving a Saab, hope you can enjoy it for years to come!

Great job Adam, but it appears SU thinks you are from the USA (or are you?) but your car has Ontario plates on it?

Nice job Adam and please drive carefully!
I’m sure you’re very smart young man but don’t let your Aero fool you into doing anything on an open road you’ll regret later. (Sorry for the boring parental guidance 🙂 )

Proud to have you as a fellow Saaber! This is what it’s all about. Our love for our cars and this unique brand and all that it stands for, but above else, the fantastic community that we are.

I too am a young Saab owner (22 years old) and have been obsessed since I was in elementary school. Few people can say that they have their dream car at such a young age! Makes every drive special.

Continue to treat your Saab well and she will reward you back.
