Is this the sexiest Saab ever?

Our guest writer Paul of “SAAB vs Scepticism” asks the question…. Is this the sexiest Saab ever?

“Others may have seen this before but I haven’t, and I’ve fallen in love. This has got to be the sexiest Saab I’ve ever seen. Just spotted it over on the excellent Saablog-in in a post dating back to May.

What’s more, it has my all time favourite BBS alloys on as well. If only this were on sale now.”

My personal “real” favourite has always been the 9-x Air, a Saab I wish I could just have a sit in…

Robin, you’re quite right, this is just as sexy, but then again, there’s the classic 900 and the 9-3 HOT Aero and…
Just too many gorgeous Saabs.

Which model of 9-3 is the top one?? I’ve never seen a 2-door 9-3 before, and that’s a great looking Is it a 2+2??

9-3 convertible…

Hahaha sorry, Roger… you’re right, of course. I meant I’ve never seen a more modern hard-top 2-door 9-3 before (the top image looks like a hard-top, at least, and in this case I’m not considering the first gen 9-3 hatches “more modern”).

Anyhow, I think it looks pretty aggressive and sort of utilitarian, both of which basically make it look bad-ass, IMO.

Looks pretty sharp, but those rims are WAAY too big. Probably has a really harsh ride, and very prone to bent rims and vibrating.

I’d consider getting one if they were sold here, especially in an electric version, as long as they didn’t just keep the atrocious GM hard black plastic interior.

Hard to have a problem with the MUG…looks great. NOW, quit the sedans and make COMBI-wagons and yes REAL hatches not unlike a Panamera say. Over here, sedans helped to kill Saab…theyre like 50?% of 95s and 70?% 93 sports. GM wanted Saab to be some “quirky” euro-pontiac. That didnt work out…but NOTHING Detroit or Opel trys seems to be working, does it? Would/Have any of us considered Buick or godawful looking Caddies??

This one’s not bad either!

… if only it existed!

I’ve never seen that before. It is beautiful!

I think it would have sold like hotcakes if it was made (and didn’t have that plastic-y GM interior)… just look at how much people adore the A5 / A7!

The coupe up top looks like a CGI rendering. For it to be a hardtop convertible we’d see a break in the C-pilar.

IMO, the best ever looking PRODUCTION Saab was the NG 9-5 Aero.

that’s merely an Opel Insignia-clone, is it? it seems that the NG9-5 now starts taking over the role of the 900Classic. sorry, that would be too much honour, i think.

Nice, but I don’t like the direction they were going in with the elongated shape of the front grill. Were they trying to knock off Edsel? Some call it “horse collar” and others call it toilet seat. Classic Saabs had the best looking front ends in the business—-but this move toward exaggerating the depth of the grill wasn’t a favorite design cue of mine on later Saabs.

Totally agree. The ’08 9-3 was as deep as it should have went. Just enough to give it some more 3-D presence. The NG 9-5 face, whilst beautiful, can look utterly awkward from certain angles. I also prefer the 9-7x face to the 9-4x face for the same reason.

Many moons ago, this very topic was discussed in comments and somebody mentioned that bonnets are growing in size to make it easier to pass EuroNCAP’s pedestrian protection tests. I do not remember any official word on this subject, so take it with a grain of salt.

The 9-x Air would be also my dream car…

But, i would prefer a five door car of this 9-x whick looks like to had be exist as a model on the right background in this photo:
The style of the roof and the line of the C-Pillar Looks like the 9-1/9-x Air. BUT this Car Looks like a Four Doors Model, because of the three pillars and three Door Windows on the side of the car. It this possible? Do anyone know more about this model?

I love the top one. Looks so slick. Always been a fan of the coupes but not too practical with a family.

Just the excuse for owning a Combi as well.

Yepp, this is one of the sexiest. But it has to be a 3-door hatchback to qualify as a Saab, not a 2-door coupé. Hard to tell from the picture.

I think the AERO-X is the sexiest one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr5qCJCcttI

If only SAAB had had the sales volume to justify building some of these designs.
