Register at Saabs United
Registering as a user of Saabs United is easy and it'll make your commenting and contributing experience at Saabs United a whole lot easier.
Registering for comments makes my life as a website administrator easier as registered commenters won't get caught in a spam queue. I'll also know I can trust your comments, meaning that I don't have to query borderline comments that come in for moderation.
Registering for comments should also make your life easier as once you've registered, you should only need to click the sign-in link and via the magic of cookies the system should recognise you and auto-fill your information.
Whilst many websites do require registration nowadays, registration for comments at Saabs United is not mandatory. You can still make comments as you used to by filling out the comments form, but registration is recommended.
So how do you do it? Easy.
At the beginning of the comment form there is a link inviting you to "Sign In"

Click that link and you'll be taken to a sign-in screen (see below).
On the right, there are several options for signing in. If you already have an account with Movable Type, OpenID, LiveJournal or Vox, then you can use your account details from those services to sign in here at Saabs United.
If you don't have an account with those services, no worries. Just register directly with Saabs United.
To do that click on the "Sign Up" link, circled in the image below.

That link will take you through to a "Create an account" screen, where you enter in a few registration details.

The confirmation email
Once you've registered, you should recieve a confirmation email at the email address you've subitted in the registration process.
Click the link in that email and your registration process should be complete.
Once you account is created, your comments should go through with no issues at all.

NOTE: The information you submit is not passed on to any third parties. It is only stored for recognition and login purposes. I may use your email from time to time to get in touch and clarify an issue you might raise in comments. This is not unusual. Comments at TS also required an email address, which was used only sparingly and never passed on to a third party without express permission.
---
TIP: When registering as a user here at Saabs United, it would be good to use the same name and email combination you used at Trollhattan Saab. If you had a Gravatar image accompanying your comments there, the gravatar software will pick that up and install you image with your comments just as it did there. If you want to use a different name and email combination, that's OK, but you may have to register that new combination with Gravatar to get your image to show on site.
---
As well as making your commenting experience easier now, Saabs United may expand to incorporate other services in the future. Your registration may enable your participation with those services at that time.

Somoene on wordpress has used my nickname I have been using for years and thus gravatar won't work for me (What on earth is Wordpress anyway?)

BREAKING: Swedish TV reports Koenigsegg buying Saab
by John Neff on Jun 11th, 2009 at 11:32AM Breaking
We don't have much to go on yet, but Swedish television is reportedly claiming that Koenigsegg, makers of ultra high-performance exotic supercars, and a group of Norwegian investors have signed a letter of intent with Saab to take over the brand from General Motors. Final negotiations will reportedly take place in the coming months.....
It turns out the username is only a formality. It pulls the avatar icon based on the email address only.
Its my understanding that some of you were given that information when you first picked up your vehicles. I'm curious where I fit in with the 600 that were built.
Thx,

Its a tough time for us Saab fans and is not helped by GM who are not only dealing with a car brand but also people's feeling's and life's.
Sometimes I wonder if Ford owned Saab,I mean look at how they conducted the Volvo sale. Quickly, efficently and without fuss. Also Ford are allowing Geeley there technolgy for devlopment.
Sadly I can not give any new information about the sale because this website is the place I come for updates. Happily I can report that this site: saabsunited, is great and I love the atmosphere, everyone is being positive and like me love Saab.
GM do the right thing and sell Saab! Griffin Up!

Since the second week of having the car, the navigation system stopped working. The car has had a ton of problems since then. From the air conditioning unit not working, to HID lights burning off, to squeaky seats and brakes. Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. The worst problems I have had are the car stalling twice while on the highway and having an intermittent problem with the car not wanting to start.
The car has been to the service center in many occasions because of the stalling and starting up problems. The first time the car went to the service department for the stalling and start up problem, I was told that the mechanics were not able to duplicate the problem. The second time they reprogrammed the computer. The third time they found that the fuel pressure regulator was not working adequately so they changed it. The fourth time it was the fuel pump. I have taken the car a few more times because of the same problem and they keep telling me that they have not been able to duplicate the problem.
Is that it? No. About two weeks ago, the SID began reporting that the Anti-Theft System was not working properly. Three days later the driver's side passenger door window stopped working along with the electrical lock system. The car is back at the service department.
So, now what? Since there is no lemon law for cars in Puerto Rico, I proceeded to file a claim at the Department of Consumer Affairs to have my lease contract canceled or have the car bought back by the dealer given all the problems I have had with it, with only 13,650 miles on it. The dealer is willing to try and repair the problems the car might have except for the intermittent stalling and start up problems since they have not been able to duplicate the problem.
The service department manager recommended for me to call Saab to see what they were willing to do to help me out. So, I called, and what a disappointment. I was told by a Saab representative that, since there are no remaining official Saab dealers, they were not able to help me out. That any claim I had was to be handled through General Motors. So, I called General Motors and they told me that any claim related with Saab had to be handled via Saab. I was over one and a half hour on the phone speaking with both Saab and GM representatives with the same outcome.
I'm stuck with a car with problems that the service department from what used to be a Saab dealer until 2008 can't fix and with Saab not wanting to help me out. And to think that I wanted to buy a 2010 9-5...
