2011 was not the end of SAAB 1.0 — it was more like SAAB 2.5. (The Saab-Scania era may be 1.5, the GM era was 2.0). And we’re looking at SAAB 3.0 with NEVS.

Trading in a 2010-11 Saab? Sacre blue! Perhaps for a 9-3, but you can have my 2010 9-5 Aero only after you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
Seriously the new-gen 9-5′s are so unique – they’re instant […]

I’m sure he didn’t have the choice. The sedan was all done when Muller took over, not the wagon. He produced what he could right away.

When I was in Stockholm in 2011, the taxi I took from the train station to my hotel was a relatively new Audi A8.
It was also a very expensive taxi ride, which is probably related in some way to the […]

It’s very two dimensional. Perhaps they can add some texture or light reflective material to the light grey background, to separate the perceived plane of the background from the text, and give it more of a three […]

Greg Abbott commented on the post, NEVS considers all versions of the 9-3 7 months, 1 week ago
The 9-5 is on a GM platform, which Saab would have to license in order to produce 9-5′s of any kind. That’s not going to happen. Saab owns the 9-3 platform, so no GM deal is necessary.

Is there a color code for Sky Blue? It occurs to me that a classic 900 convertible repainted in Sky Blue would look quite nice.

That’s a beautiful Saab. I’d imagine it will look very cool driving around in the winter.

I got the one offered by a local dealer – figuring that since they will be doing the work, it will be someone the dealer has experience negotiating with. It’s the same one they’ve been offering with the new Saabs […]

You exaggerate severely — for emphasis, I suspect, but still.
The whole situation exists because of a toxic combination of GM’s arrogance, incompetence, and greed. Had GM handled the Saab sale like a normal […]

This post is a pleasure to read, and is good news indeed. I’ll certainly give a close look at an electric 9-3. Saabs are safe but they are also fun to drive – I hope that part do not get lost in the NEVS […]

I agree that they should have secured the name before committing to the deal — but it’s possible that negotiations with Saab AB were taking too long, and they decided to commit before having finalized the license […]

I wonder if the license of the brand name “Saab” from Saab AB is the hold-up. As in, they have the funding but it is conditional on NEVS ability to license the Saab name.

I have no doubt GM is playing for time.

This extension is routine. Had Spyker not granted the extension, GM could have made a motion to the court for more time, which likely would have been granted. Or GM could have filed an answer, and then filed a […]

A convertible is a great application for an electric car. Convertibles are light duty vehicles used for short trips. They are also typically not the only car in a household, so the “go anywhere, do anything” […]

I am not as negative about NEVS as some here, but there is no question that NEVS means a rather abrupt break with Saab’s current and past traditions — to the point that I wonder if they are even going to use the […]

There are only 50 states. And a company only needs to be incorporated in one state to do business in any of them – typically the only thing an out of state corporation needs in order to conduct business in a […]

Except the power tops and additional structural enhancements to compensate for no roof weigh a lot. Convertibles are generally heavier. Not good when you're already concerned over being stranded when the batteries go kaput.
