Great story and great photos. The B207R is a great little powerplant, in my opinion the best overall engine I’ve driven in a Saab–looking forward to hearing more about its transformation into a custom beast!
Like all Saabs, the NG 9-5 will age incredibly well. Ten years from now, it will still make a fresh statement. Looking forward to adding one to the collection in just a couple years!
Beautiful car…enjoy it!
Good question. They were, supposedly, only about 10-12 months shy of releasing the new car when they went bankrupt. However, something tells me it likely was further away than that based on 2011′s extreme financial difficulties.

I would love to see Saab Automobile AB back under Saab AB. It’s original and best home. But this is more pie-in-the-sky than ANY of NEVS greatest dreams were. Sad.
Griffin was MY12 only. Meant to be a last-edition. Some minor (yet tasteful) interior changes and a few exterior changes, including the revised grille with the larger Saab wordmark, revised tail gate trim with the Saab wordmark, and bluish ice block headlights. In petrol powered form, they got the new 2.0T from GM.
