The 9000 2.3 engines were even better; no black sludge problems and (according to Maptun) are capable to much higher outputs than later ‘more efficient’ versions…

Indeed they aren’t. And in ‘extreme road conditions’ I’d rather be in a big-wheeled SUV with 4WD. As much as I love my Saab, when the there’s huge amount of snow I’m taking the Explorer 4×4…

Well, in the Glory Days Saabs outperformed most of the competition. I remember taking on BMW 323i, MB 190s, Mazda RX7, VW Golf GTi, Audi 100/200 etc with my 99 turbo and never ever lost a ‘race’.
