Actually my wife has turned the car off at least 2 times while reaching back to get something for out kids while we were driving on the highway. I know it has happened in my 9-5 wagon (automatic) but not sure about my OG9-3 (manual).

You can carry on with the gas engine providing the electrical power to the motors but there is no drive train from the engine to the wheels. To me it is a great concept for electric car market because you have an alternative when the batteries run dry for longer road trips. You do loose some of thrill of hearing the engine revving and turbo spooling.

I had these but only made it about 25-30K on them before replacing with the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus and they are working out great so far. A friend with a Viggen has the same tires and likes them too.
